The Solar Install Helper
Sunnova Energy is searching for a Solar Install Helper to join our team. The Helper’s primary responsibility is installing solar panels on residential homes to meet all company standards, quality, and performance while providing excellent customer service.
The Helper works as part of a team and follows the instructions of the Solar Technician, Install Lead. The Helper must abide by all company safety regulations, be adaptable, a good communicator, and comfortable working with a team and with homeowners. They need to be familiar with standard photovoltaic rules and guidelines, know how to follow site plans and ensure a clean job site.
Responsibilities
- Installs PV, battery and other associated systems according to engineering designs, permits and electrical code
- Follows of all company safety guidelines
- Ensures installation meets all company quality requirements
- Submit timely reports through Sunnova software showing project progress, quality and completion
- Collaborates closely with other team members to ensure an efficient installation
- Utilizes knowledge, skills, and testing equipment to commission systems and evaluate system issues
- Identifies solutions to resolve technical design problems
- Manages vehicle-material stock and equipment inventory
- Provides training to customers about system operation and maintenance
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma (or GED)
- 0-1+ year experience as an electrical technician, solar installer, or solar maintenance technician
- Current, valid Driver’s license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
- Proficient in speaking, reading and writing English
- Electrical training
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 Certified
- Formal electrical apprenticeship and/or vocational training
- 0-1 + years’ labor experience in electrical trade, general construction, or mechanical experience
- 0-1 + years in the Solar Electric Industry
- Bilingual, English and Spanish
Additional Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Organized and maintains a professional appearance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Working Conditions
- Location varies depending on job site
- Estimated 10% travel time
- Able to work an adjusting schedule and respond to emergencies
- Driving Required; Valid Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Report required
Physical Requirements
- Long hours spent outside of residential rooftops, driving to customer residencies, some ground and rooftop work
- Various weather conditions include cold and snowy, hot and humid, and everything in between; must be comfortable working in different environments
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; assistance may be provided for oversized items
- Able to sit, stand, walk, and drive for up to 8 hours at a time
