About Our Role
We currently have an opportunity for a Systems Engineer to support the regulated electric transmission business of LS Power. This position will be part of the Systems Engineering group and will be reporting to the VP of Operations and Maintenance. You will primarily support engineering reviews of compliance evidence and collaborate with technical team members to gather, organize and assess technical datasets. Work will also include collaborating on design standards development, project design reviews and support for field operations personnel during station commissioning, testing and maintenance activities. Work performed must comply with both LSP corporate and regional affiliate cybersecurity policies and procedures. This position will operate in a cross-functional capacity working closely with system protection, operations engineering, SCADA engineering, field operations, EMS and project
development groups.
Responsibilities
What you will do:
- Develop and maintain maintenance and configuration procedures, schedules and related evidentiary documentation
- Store and maintain appropriate documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory compliance standards
- Assist with all regulatory reporting and support audits by NERC and regional entities as required
- Develop compliance tasks and methods to mitigate risks identified by Compliance department
- Develop/update/manage drawing management process and project drawings
- Review protection and SCADA system design and drawings, using CAD, Visio, Bluebeam, and other tools
- Coordinate and support evidence collection and technical reviews of engineering submittals, test records, SCADA configurations and other technical data sets
- Consults frequently with technicians, operators, and engineers to manage operational and technical requirements for NERC compliance program
- Support protection engineering and field operations for performing reviews of system event records including sequence of events (SER) and digital fault recordings (DFR)
- Assist with remote and occasionally local commissioning and service work on all SCADA-related systems including equipment monitoring devices, fault recorders, weather stations and network equipment
- Support onsite relaying and SCADA system commissioning for factory and site acceptance testing as required
- Provide project support for protection engineering and SCADA designs including specification and proposal reviews, vendor selections and drawing reviews
- Assist technical staff with developing and maintaining RSAWs as required by the NERC compliance program
Qualifications

- Have a Bachelors/Masters engineering degree
- Have three plus years of electric utility engineering experience
- Have experience with system protection standards such as IEC 61850
- Are self-motivated, disciplined and possess effective skills necessary for job
- Possess good communication skills
- Are a critical thinker with strong knowledge of modern software applications
Ideally you also have…
- Testing and commissioning experience for relaying and SCADA systems
- Experience supporting NERC compliance in the electric utility business
- Understanding of electric utility business principles, compliance programs
