Job Description

Overview: We are seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and testing of battery and power systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, with a keen interest in energy storage, power systems, and sustainable technologies. This role offers an excellent opportunity to grow your skills in a dynamic environment, working alongside experienced engineers on cutting-edge projects.

Responsibilities:

Design and Development: Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems for battery and power systems, including enclosures, cooling systems, and mounting solutions.

3D Modeling and CAD: Create and modify 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Ensure that designs meet technical specifications and industry standards.

Prototyping: Support the prototyping of new battery and power system designs. Work with manufacturing teams to fabricate and assemble prototypes, and participate in design reviews.

Testing and Validation: Assist in the testing and validation of battery and power systems. Set up and conduct mechanical tests to evaluate performance, durability, and safety. Analyze test data and prepare reports with findings and recommendations.

Thermal Management: Contribute to the development of thermal management solutions for battery systems, ensuring optimal performance and longevity under various operating conditions.

Material Selection: Participate in the selection of materials for mechanical components, considering factors such as weight, strength, thermal properties, and cost.

Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and assembly instructions. Ensure that all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.

Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers, manufacturing teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that mechanical designs are fully integrated with electrical and power system requirements.

Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, reduce costs, and improve manufacturing processes.

Compliance: Ensure that all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

0-2 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in battery systems, power systems, or related fields. Internships or co-op experience is a plus.

Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) tools.

Basic understanding of thermal management, material properties, and mechanical design principles.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Eagerness to learn and develop new skills in the field of battery and power systems.

Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations related to battery and power systems is a plus.
