Job Description:
As the Senior Financial Analyst specializing in Renewable Energy, you will play a crucial role in our finance team, focusing on identifying, evaluating, and executing merger and acquisition opportunities within the renewable energy sector. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance for Distributed Generation and engaging with the Senior Vice President of Distributed Generation, you will contribute to the strategic growth of our renewable energy portfolio. Your responsibilities will encompass financial analysis, due diligence, deal structuring, and negotiation, with a primary emphasis on Solar and other sustainable energy sources.
The job consists in 50% financial modelling and 50% negotiating with customers, diligence, taking projects investment committee, deal leading.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting quantitative and qualitative financial analyses, constructing models, and performing DCF valuations to determine transaction pricing and assess the financial returns of investments in distributed generation and energy assets.
- Coordinating internally with various functional support units, such as Tax, Regulatory, Accounting, Credit, Risk, and Legal, to obtain approval from these groups for potential transactions and to ensure compliance with internal policies and approvals for final agreements.
- Spearheading the development and promotion of innovative products that complement Solar Asset Investments, including but not limited to Solar + Storage, in alignment with our business strategy.
- Conducting market research and due diligence to support the expansion into new markets or products, as well as qualifying new projects, such as community solar initiatives. Continuously monitoring market, regulatory, and industry developments that impact project structuring and financial performance, including changes in financial and commodity markets, federal, state, and local regulations, and issues related to manufacturers, suppliers, and customers.
- Integrating these macro- and micro-level variables into financial analyses and models to create novel structured finance solutions that facilitate business growth.
- Developing and modeling various financing structures for renewable energy, energy asset, and energy efficiency projects, including project finance and debt/equity investment structures.
- Cultivating and maintaining strategic relationships with tax equity investors and project financiers to optimize capital structure flexibility and secure more cost-effective capital for projects.
- Playing a pivotal role in structuring and negotiating commercial and legal provisions, as well as finalizing documentation as an integral part of transaction teams.
- In this role you’ll be directly reporting directly to the Director of Finance for Distributed Generation, while also having direct access and engagement with the Senior Vice President of Distributed Generation and other senior leaders.
Qualifications
- In lieu of a master’s degree, the candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant and demonstrable experience. The following qualifications are essential for this role:
- Prior work experience in the fields of energy and finance is highly applicable.
- Exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel are necessary for the creation and maintenance of financial models.
- The ability to efficiently process large volumes of data and detailed information within defined timeframes, distilling key points for analysis and communication.
- A working familiarity with various contracting mechanisms, including experience in legal review and negotiation.
- Demonstrated strength in negotiation techniques and salesmanship.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role.
- Strong capabilities in team leadership, project management, and resource/time management.
- The ability to work independently and make actionable decisions within a fast-paced environment.
