Summary:

The Assistant Plant Manager will have responsibility for a combination of plant technical operations and customer service. The Assistant Plant Manager will direct and implement operations & maintenance activities to ensure the achievement of established goals including safety, reliability, profitability, and efficiency. The Assistant Plant Manager will participate in formulation, planning and implementation of strategies in conjunction with those of the customer and the Company. The Assistant Plant Manager will oversee operations and maintenance of the district plants ensuring the safe, cost effective, efficient, and reliable operations of the facilities. This is a full time, salaried, non-union position. This position reports to the General Manager and is located in Tulsa, OK.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing the operation function concurrent with business growth, introduction of new operational systems, changes to systems and components, achieving subsidiary financial objectives, ensuring safety to operations and employees, meeting production standards and quality of output.
  • Assess and assist in upgrading the supervisory and operators talent and skills bases to achieve growth and meet objectives such as reduced cost, efficient, improved maintenance, and reliable delivery.
  • Utilize Maximo (or equivalent) to plan, execute, and document all maintenance activities to ensure plant reliability and efficiency.
  • Research, plan, target, and control reductions in costs of operations. Achieve yearly financial objectives.
  • Assist in the preparation, control, and forecast of the departmental budget.
  • Monitor and approve site expenditures, contracts, and employee work schedules to minimize costs and meet goals.
  • Actively participate in a leadership role and in implementation of new processes and systems technology to meet the unit objectives.
  • Promote continuous improvement of operations, workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Will be required to maintain confidential data and files.
  • May be required to work nights, holidays, weekends, and extended hours in support of facility with continuous production.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years’ progressively responsible experience with a concentration in central heating and cooling or utility plants.
  • 5+ years’ recent experience supervising a staff in utility or industrial environment or managing supervisors of non-exempt operation workers.
  • Diversified background with strong technical, business and managerial skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate activities of others.
  • Knowledge of financial management for district energy and power production facilities.
  • Highly motivated individual who derives satisfaction from the delivery of exceptional work product.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact and present challenging concepts to all levels of an organization, from operational management to senior leadership.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record in order to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must submit to company required pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Work environment is a typical power plant setting, which may include exposure to dirt, dust, and greasy work surfaces. Worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures; equipment noise, and hazards such as high-pressure steam lines and rotating equipment.
  • Physical activities that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job include: standing; walking; sitting; climbing; stooping and crouching; kneeling; reaching; pushing; pulling; grasping; talking; lifting; seeing; reading; and hearing.
  • May be required to occasionally lift objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds and maneuver in excess of 100 pounds.

Pay: $100,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
