The Position

Mechanic A

Job Summary
Department: Maintenance
Reporting to: Maintenance Supervisor
Nature of Position: To maintain, repair, and install process equipment and perform routine preventative maintenance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain and follow safety, health and environmental requirements, including maintenance of safety standards on all production equipment, mobile equipment and shop areas
Perform maintenance repairs on mechanical production equipment.
Installation of new and relocation of existing equipment.
Perform Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance on mechanical production equipment.
Troubleshooting of mechanical plant equipment.
Maintain a clean work area.
Other duties as required and assigned.
Utilize basic Tabware work orders
Job Requirements:
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, layout plans, vendor installation and operation manuals, and other schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Dismantles machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools.
  • Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks.
  • Assembles and installs equipment, such as pumps,, conveyors,, Crushers , heavy industrial equipment using cranes, hand tools and power tools.
  • Has a Weld Certification for 5G or 6G welding including fabrication fitting and structural welding skills to ASME and API standards
  • Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers and plumb bobs.vernier calipers and Dial indicators .
  • Able to sketch drawings taking measurements
  • Must have knowledge of optical and laser alignments.
  • Assembles machines and bolts, welds, rivets or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures using hand tools and power tools.
  • May operate engine lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.will be beneficial
  • Experience with Reliability/Precision maintenance
  • Must have at minimum Journeyman Precision Millwright certification
  • May use transit and level for equipment setting.
  • Loads, transports and unloads materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Performs lubricating maintenance, cleaning activities, or repair of tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
  • An Industrial Mechanical Maintenance Certificate from an accredited vocational/community college with a minimum of three (3) years of maintenance mechanic experience
  • Completion of an approved maintenance mechanic/ Millwright apprenticeship program or equivalent with at least five (5) years of experience as a maintenance mechanic in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Willing and able to lift 50 pounds routinely
  • Willing and able to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks for extended periods (lifting, walking, climbing, pushing, twisting, stooping)
  • Willing and able to work in a demanding industrial environment to include but not limited to hot, humid, dusty, cold and noisy.
  • Willing and able to wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints
  • Willing and able to communicate job related information as required through associated documentation.
  • Willing and able to work any shift, overtime, weekends and holidays when required
  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems.
  • Use logical step-by-step procedures in work.
  • Plan work and select proper tools.
  • Compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions form plans and drawings.
  • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
  • Perform a variety of duties, which may change often.
  • Operate machinery.
  • Work at heights
Machines and Equipment Involved: Light truck, hand and power tools, forklift, manlift, Hydralift, Broderson crane, basic computer, calculator, ampmeter
Working Conditions: Job includes both inside and outside duties in varying weather conditions
Qualifications:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent (GED). Ability to read, write, and perform basic math at a level associated with completion of high school or equivalent.
Experience: 3 years minimum Industrial Maintenance or Industrial Construction experience.
Skills Requirement: Must have a valid drivers license. Must be able to work with limited supervision; self-starter. Ability to use a computer for basic tasks. Must have math skills necessary for accurate measurement and layout. Communication skills including verbal, non-verbal, written, listening skills, understanding verbal instructions, and interpersonal relations skills are necessary.
Required Activities: Standing, walking up and down stairs, climbing ladders. Lifting up to 50 lbs., Stretching, Bending, and Twisting.
Other: Ability to work in an environment emphasizing teamwork. Must be able to follow departmental procedures and work instructions and abide by safety rules.
