Position Summary:

This position is responsible for reviewing the Dangerous Goods DG booking requests entered into CMA internal system by GBS Mumbai against the documents received by customers. This position ensures details are accurate, complete, and in compliance with the International Maritime Dangerous Goods IMDG and the U.S. 49CFR. This position is the key contact with customers and internal departments related to additional details or documents needed to be provided. Coordinates with the Dangerous Cargo Office DCO when a DG booking request is deemed complete and acceptable for review and approval..

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

Responsible for the accuracy, complete and timely review of requests, for regulatory, vessel operator, and port compliance once GBS has entered the DG details into internal system.

Collect and review final dangerous goods declarations and associated documents such as but not limited to Safety Data Sheet (SDS) from customers. Have uploaded to dangerous cargo documentation platform as needed.

Is the key contact for customers and internal departments as it relates to hazardous cargo. Liaise with customers as needed to collect additional documents or to assist with any discrepancies or missing details. Assist customers and internal departments with DG related questions or problem resolution as they arise.

Pre advise and provide DG documentation to Marine Terminals as required

Assist with alternate routing solutions in cases where original routing is not feasible.

Send DG booking confirmations to customers upon approval by DCO.

Confirm and validate final dangerous goods declaration against internal system for accuracy and ensure compliance with the IMDG and U.S. 49CFR

Miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

General knowledge of dangerous goods regulatory requirements, such as 49CFR, IMDG or IATA.

General knowledge of international shipping logistics and transportation.

Good written and verbal communications with internal and external customers.

Good interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Ability to make fast-paced decisions.

Basic computer skills.

Ability to work under pressure.

Strong customer service skills.

High attention to detail.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree preferred.

1+ years of general and industry experience required.

Previous dangerous goods experience (i.e., Shipper, warehouse, trucker)

Preferred: IMDG, IATA, 49CFR certification.
