The base salary range for this position is $107,254 to $139,431 depending on experience and location.

Job Summary
  • Reporting to the Director of Communications, the position is responsible for managing strategic communications that support operating company business objectives with external stakeholders and employees. Responsibilities include creating communication-related materials for internal and external stakeholders. Manages external resources to achieve timely execution of all communication-related materials and ensures appropriate branding. This position will be located at the Central Paine Power General Offices located in Augusta, Maine.
Key Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with the operating company leadership team and key stakeholders, develops communication strategies for issues, customers, and crises to achieve CMP and AVANGRIDs objectives.
  • Assists in crafting compelling narratives and managing the companys reputation in collaboration with customer service, government relations, regulatory affairs, and branding.
  • Manages operating company communications including media relations, public relations, video and photo content development, storytelling, crisis communications, social media, assisting in the preparation of executives for media interviews and a variety of other projects, including internal and external events.
  • Acts as corporate spokesperson and responds to members of the media; fosters and maintains relationships with key media partners.
  • Manages development of content for Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and other social media platforms.
  • Manages content across corporate websites and intranets.
  • Supports internal employee communications.
  • Coordinates and manages communication initiatives to ensure consistency in messaging, brand, and image.
  • Serves as Public Information Officer (PIO) or Deputy Public Information Officer (DPIO) in crisis environments, including during storms.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience or equivalent experience in Communications or a relevant field.
  • Experience in creating and implementing strategic communications plans, including press releases, media relations, video and photo content development, storytelling, crisis communications, social media,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, writing, editing and project management skills.
  • Strong strategic and analytical capability.
  • Must be highly adaptable and resilient to change.
  • Strong ability to work with senior leaders and manage relations with key internal and external stakeholders on communication opportunities and business issues.
  • Ability to multi-task and quickly prioritize projects and work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Self-starter, independent worker, strong team and cross-functional collaborator.
  • Excellent leadership and collaboration skills in effectively managing staff.
  • Knowledge of the electric and gas industry.
  • Ability to work occasional non-traditional work hours (nights and weekends) as needed for emergency and crisis communications.
