Job Summary:

This position is a High Impact Practice (HIP) facilitator for nine Biocore courses with responsibilities for online course management and support through Canvas, Biocore Program recruitment and alumni communication, and coordination of peer advising, alumni, and outreach activities.

Key functions of this role include:

  • Course and student support including providing active learning support, maintain Canvas course sites, advising course students, and acting as a technical consultant for instructors and Teaching Assistants.
  • Recruitment and advertising including training students in science outreach, recruiting prospective students, maintaining campus connections with key stakeholders, and updating program literature.
  • Program communication including social media management and website content creation.

Responsibilities:

Contributes to the development, implementation, administration, coordination, and evaluation for one or more academic programs to ensure effectiveness in meeting departmental and student development goals and initiatives. Strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.

  • 20% Utilizes independent judgement regarding development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation for one or more academic programs, initiatives, or events
  • 25% Identifies program, needs, contributes to the development of unit workflows, schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, events, and interviews
  • 10% Coordinates program components and evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement
  • 25% May supervise the day to day activities of one or more academic programs and resolves issues exercising discretion to meet unit goals.
  • 10% Advising and mentoring current and prospective students in the academic program
  • 10% Coordinating student accommodations in the classroom including students with McBurney Visas

Education:

Bachelor Degree required. Preference for degree in STEM discipline or Science Communications discipline.

  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • One year of experience in Academic Advising
  • Experience in Canvas and online technology (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office, Basic Word Press, html, basic graphic design (e.g. Canva))

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $33,745 ACADEMIC (9 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The typical starting salary for this position is $34,000 – $48,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays and paid time off; competitive insurances and saving accounts; and retirement benefits.
