As a Computational Plasma Physicist, you will apply your skills to participate in a simulation lab with participation in our experimental program. We are looking for a physicist, RF plasma scientist or CVD design expert to apply their technical expertise, problem solving skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact the future of energy!

Responsibilities

  • Run simulations with current models.
  • Improve model implementation on computers/clusters.
  • Code and validate improvements on models.
  • Develop new models.
  • Compare models with data, evaluation criteria.
  • Analyzing model data and visual interpretation to improve design.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or comparable industry experience in the field of plasma chemistry
  • Familiarity with PIC and MHD methods of plasma simulation
  • Relevant thesis subject overlap, or 5 years lab experimental and theoretical modeling of discharge kinetics.
  • Basic knowledge of physical chemistry.
  • Experience in rate equation modeling.
  • Gas discharge phenomena (microwave/e-beam/discharge pumped).
  • Independent formation of physics-based models for computer analysis.
  • Understanding of fundamental physics & approximations made in models.
  • Basic understanding of quantum mechanics.
  • Knowledge of E&M.
  • Python, C/C++, Matlab, and/or other languages.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee of granted asylum.

Desired

  • Expert in plasma physics, particularly modeling time-evolved state population in discharges.
  • Strong understanding/foundation of quantum mechanics.
  • Non-equilibrium plasma modeling.
  • Proficient in Python for scientific computing.
  • Experience running codes in HPC environments (Imod, MPI, SLURM, spack).
  • Data visualization (matplotlib, ParaView, Vislt, etc.).
Candidates may be considered for other positions at Xcimer Energy, and our actual base salary will be determined on an individual basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. The range is published in accordance with Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and California Equal Pay Act.
