We are now looking for an experienced Manager, Sourcing with a focus on Energy & Utilities to join our Sourcing Team in the North American region.

Your responsibilities will include:

a) Energy & Utilities Sourcing

  • Negotiate and execute sourcing agreements across the region
  • Develop solutions to optimize energy costs
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing network on energy efficiency improvement and other projects

b) Sustainability and Decarbonization

  • Develop and lead the region’s decarbonization strategy, aiming to reduce carbon footprint in alignment with global sustainability goals
  • Implement and promote energy-efficient technologies and renewable energy sources across all operations
  • Track and report on sustainability metrics and progress towards energy reduction and sustainability targets
  • Advocate for and integrate circular economy principles into energy and utilities sourcing strategies

c) Market Analysis

  • Proactively monitor key market conditions, trends and regulations
  • Identify opportunities and mitigate risks for Kemira, with a focus on sustainability and long-term environmental impact

d) Strategic Engagement

  • Engage with various levels within Kemiras organization to support and foster a culture of sustainability
  • Collaborate with external energy experts, suppliers, and sustainability consultants to create and manage a sustainability strategy
  • Participate in industry forums and sustainability initiatives to stay abreast of best practices and innovations

What you will bring to the team:

a) Education: University degree, preferably in Engineering (Electrical, Energy, Environmental, or related fields)

b) Experience:

  • 5+ years with or in the utility/energy industry with a focus on sustainability
  • Prior experience in energy purchasing, trading, and power generation; Familiarity with market operators and regulators in the region; demonstrated experience in developing and implementing sustainability initiatives

c) Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to independently drive strategic initiatives and develop sustainable solutions

  • Strong analytical skills to review electricity sourcing strategies, utility tariffs, energy projects, and contracts with a sustainability lens

  • Excellent negotiating skills for complex legal and commercial contracts

  • Capability to manage multiple projects with effective communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with external market actors and internal stakeholders for change management towards sustainability goals

  • Experience with SAP, eSourcing tools, energy trading platforms, and hedging protocols
