How You Will Make an Impact:
In this role, you will lead an analytical team that provides insights and guidance to all of Cabots businesses. You will have the opportunity to work closely with technology directors for each of Cabots businesses to understand current and future product and process development work and will be responsible for designing and building the analytical strategy and capabilities that bring valuable insights that help drive business plans to success. You will work with Cabots internal product safety and regulatory team as well as external standards bodies to position Cabot for a sustainable future and will ensure that our manufacturing plants and commercial teams are well supported when customer questions or production issues arise.
This role requires a highly intelligent, self-motivated person with a positive attitude, a ton of good energy, a strong track record and a curiosity to learn.
A successful candidate will be someone who:
- Provides technical leadership of Cabots analytical team, ensuring the right mix of technical skills and capabilities to successfully execute on Cabots long-range plan. Leads a global community of practice for satellite testing capability deployed worldwide.
- Recruits and manages a world-class analytical team, including goal-setting, assessment and development, and develops a management operating rhythm that ensures success.
- Participates in Cabots technology leadership team to set the strategy, long-range plan and operating budget that provides appropriate support to meet business needs.
- Leverages technical experience and knowledge of the business needs to establish direction and develop a technology roadmap aligned with the company growth strategy, and ensures that knowledge developed by the team is leveraged broadly to maximize the impact.
- Stays current with relevant internal and external analytical developments to bring new capabilities that are recognized as major advances in the field.
- Exhibits a high level of intellectual property awareness, ensuring new learnings are protected as patents and trade secrets and that knowledge is appropriately captured in technical reports and invention disclosures.
- Initiates and maintains a network of key technical resources at educational institutions, technical organizations and other companies to stay current with emerging technology and key talent.
- Demonstrates a safety mindset, with accountability for the safety of the team, ensuring best practices of safety management and a generative safety culture are embraced by the team.
What You Will Bring to Cabot:
- Expertise in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field PhD with 10+ years of analytical experience, or MS with 14+ years experience or Bachelors degree with 16+ years of relevant experience required
- Depth of knowledge in analytical technology, preferably as applied to particles deployed in polymeric systems
- Customer-focused mindset, with a desire to deliver critical insights with appropriate speed.
- Ability to partner with business and technical leaders and engage in business discussions to recommend projects and prioritize technical work to meet stated and emerging needs
