Position Summary:

We, at Astrap Consulting, a leading expert in the field of electric system planning services, and resource adequacy studies, are looking for a bright-minded Energy Market Data Analyst to join our continually expanding business. In this role, you will utilize resource planning simulation software and interface with cross-functional teams and system planning executives to solve our clients ever-growing challenges.

What youll be doing:

Power Systems Modeling: Use the Strategic Energy Risk Valuation Model (SERVM) software to conduct comprehensive power systems modeling to predict performance under various conditions.

Client Engagement: Work directly with clients, including utilities, regulatory bodies, consultants, and energy companies, to understand and solve their needs.

Resource Adequacy Studies: Perform in-depth resource adequacy and reliability studies to assess the capability of power systems to meet future demand while the grid transitions away from fossil fuels to cleaner energy sources.

Technical Reporting: Write detailed technical reports and create impactful presentations to convey study results and recommendations.

Market Analysis: Conduct research on market data, including energy prices, demand trends, and regulatory impacts, to support project insights and strategic decision-making. Assist in enhancing SERVM U.S. public databases.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate with a dynamic team on various client projects, contributing to innovative solutions for enhancing grid reliability, integrating renewable energy, and optimizing energy resources.

What were looking for:

Degree: Bachelors degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, or related field preferred

Experience: 1+ years of experience in any of the following is a plus, but not required:

  • Generation/Resource planning experience at a utility/ISO
  • Resource Adequacy Experience at a utility/ISO
  • Experience with SERVM for resource adequacy planning
  • Experience with a production cost model (e.g. Encompass, PLEXOS, Aurora, ProMod)
  • Power Systems Engineer and modeling experience is a plus
  • Software development experience in power system simulation models is a plus

Pay: $75,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
