We are seeking a talented NPI Materials Manager. The NPI Materials Manager’s primary responsibility is to support all material pipelining efforts through CMs or directly with our pool of global suppliers. This role involves collaborating with external suppliers, logistics partners and purchasing/sourcing teams at our Contract Manufacturers.
The NPI Materials Manager role involves collaborating with suppliers to ensure that raw material/components they develop/supply meet the required delivery schedule, quality standards and cost targets set by the company.
This position will report directly to our Director of NPI Programs and be an integral part of the SCM Organization (Supply Chain & Manufacturing).
Ultimately, the NPI Materials Manager role is critical to the success of the NPI Programs organization, and the overall success of Span.
In this position, you will be responsible for:
NPI Materials Management: You will have your eyes on every single component on our Bill of Materials. You will drive CTB (Clear-to-Build), overall materials readiness, tooling, supplier qualification, sourcing matrix, costed BOM roll-up, ECO impact analysis to CBOM, risk-buy, etc). You will be reviewing and reporting status of material shortages, overall material availability, build plan risks/progress, expediting internally and/or procuring parts on a need basis, supporting our contract manufacturers.
Risk Management: You will proactively identify material constraints and support internal resolution to identify solutions, leading cross-functional efforts to resolution (which could include alternate qualification, new vendor selection with the NPI Program Management organization, etc).
Logistics Management: You have experience coordinating shipments/pick-ups globally and will work closely with our preferred vendors and freight forwarders in order to bridge any potential gaps on the logistics front.
Procurement: You will initiate purchases orders, generate open order reports, track parts receipt and work closely with our accounting and finance teams to close any gaps from a bookkeeping perspective.
Contract Manufacturers Planning: You will build strong relationships with supply chain and procurement teams at our contract manufacturers, driving material in a cohesive and exhaustive way (working closely with them and monitoring their MRP loading/demand signals as well as other potential discrepancies which could impact cost or schedule (MOQs, Unit Cost, Incoterms, Freight cost, duties, etc.)
About You
Required Qualifications
We are seeking a highly capable NPI Materials Manager who has:
3-5 years of experience in various functions in NPI Program Management, NPI Planning, Materials Management, Materials Planning
BA or BS in engineering or supply chain management or equivalent experience
The ability to think strategically with confidence and speed
Detail oriented and ability to maintain complex Excel/Google Sheet trackers both internally and externally
Experience working with large CMs (Contract Manufacturers), preferably in the US, Mexico and Asia
Experience working with large Bill of Materials and a high amount of BOM/Engineering changes
Experience working at a startup
Experience running MRP and waterfall material schedule considering air freight, ocean freight, import/export timelines, duties, etc.
Bonus Qualifications
Solid track record working with suppliers based in South East Asia and Central America
The U.S. base salary range for this position is $120,000 – $150,000 plus benefits, equity and variable compensation for Sales-related roles. This range represents SPAN’s good faith estimate of competitively-priced salary for the role based on national, real-time industry data from companies of a similar growth stage. This range reflects minimum and maximum new hire salaries for the role across US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and individual factors including relevant skills, experience and education or training. This range correlates to the relative level of the candidate we believe we need for the role and may require an adjustment for candidates of a different level.
