A position has opened for an experienced and dynamic Release Manager to join the Capital Markets team!
The Release Manager will work with agile teams to help the group meet their release schedule targets whilst ensuring release robustness and quality.
The role primarily involves managing release delivery for the groups leading Capital Markets FX and Equities systems that operate on on-premise and cloud platforms.
Due to the nature of the role, the candidate will be required to support deployments on Friday evenings and/or on Saturdays. When out of regular hours support is required, flexibility will be provided for a non-working day in lieu.
Release Manager Responsibilities:
The overall responsibility of the Release Manager is to identify all the tasks that need to be co-ordinated, managed, scheduled and planned across a release. The Release Manager will sit within the Application Services team working with Product Owners, Project Managers, Business Stakeholders, QA, Sec-Ops, infrastructure teams and Release Engineers. The Release Manager will orchestrate all Capital Markets deployments and upgrades.
The primary responsibilities will include:
  • Working with product owners to ensure release requirements are well defined and scoped
  • Manage lower environment allocation
  • Hosting release planning meetings to build the deployment runbooks
  • Participating in change forums
  • Leading the deployment runbooks during execution including management of any issues that may arise
  • Hosting Go/No-Go or test review calls during weekend execution
  • Hosting washup review meetings post event
The candidate will be required to:
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of application services and interfaces
  • Be concise and exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills at all levels
  • Seek inefficiencies and propose release process enhancements
The expectation is that the candidate will also:
  • Support Infrastructure lead projects where application testing is required
  • Support Disaster Recovery initiatives for Capital Market applications
  • Support Application Patching activities
Candidate Background and Skills:
  • Demonstrated experience within Release Management (or Project Management).
  • Experience with Release Management tools (JIRA, Service Now, Cutover or similar)
  • Experience with deployments to both physical and cloud-based environments (preferably AWS)
  • Application knowledge and experience preferably gained within a tier 1 support environment
  • Knowledge of deployment orchestration tools
  • Basic understanding of application infrastructure including network principles and databases.
  • Educated and holding a degree level qualification (preferably in an IT field)
  • Proven innovator who is flexible, diligent and especially well organised
  • Preferentially ITIL qualified
