Working closely with the Dean of Extension, the Dean’s leadership team, and UW-Madison’s Tribal Relations Director, the Director of Extension Tribal Relations (DETR) will lead strategic engagement opportunities, special projects and initiatives for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension with the Native Nations of Wisconsin, Wisconsin’s Tribal Colleges, and affiliated organizations.
This is a statewide position charged with creating and managing a collaborative effort to develop, manage and enhance Extension’s relationships with, and investment in, the Tribes of Wisconsin with respect to areas of mutual interest. The DETR will create and foster opportunities to strengthen relationships and facilitate communication with Tribes across the state, as well as with Wisconsin’s two 1994 Land Grant Institutions.
The DETR will supervise employees who have majority positions working directly with one or more Tribes and provide oversight for all Extension/Tribal relationships and investments. The position will provide leadership, direction, and support for all UW-Madison Division of Extension educational programming offered in collaboration with the Tribes of Wisconsin.
The office location for this role is flexible and will be determined based on position needs, successful candidate’s preferences, and availability of suitable space.
