Job Summary

The Labor Relations Manager will oversee the Labor Relations function for one or more lines business in PSEG. This position is responsible for the strategic oversight and administration of the collective bargaining agreements with PSEG’s labor unions and supports PSEG initiatives that affect bargaining unit employees. The position regularly interacts with senior leaders, union leaders, and other stakeholders.


Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and recommend strategies on labor issues associated with labor union(s) on PSEG property
  • Chief spokesperson for mid-term labor negotiations and, under direction of the Senior Director, negotiates successor labor agreement(s)
  • Responsible for relationship between company and labor union(s)
  • Responsible for administration of collective bargaining agreement(s), including the discipline, grievance and arbitration processes
  • Partner with Compliance, Employee Relations, and Legal regarding ongoing concerns, investigations, arbitrations, legal disputes, and resolutions to achieve optimal results
  • Develop and conduct Labor Relations training for supervisors, managers, and other leaders
  • Analyze labor relations data looking for areas of risk and trends, and making recommendations to drive future strategy and initiatives
  • Perform related responsibilities as assigned in support of the Senior Director

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of experience in labor relations or another position with relevant skills and experience, such as managing a unionized workforce. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, 12+ years of experience in labor relations or another position with relevant skills and experience, such as managing a unionized workforce.
  • Knowledge of federal labor and employment laws, such as NLRA, FMLA, ADA, etc.
  • Experience in developing creative strategies and solutions to resolve sensitive and complex labor relations issues. Ability to train others. Presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office applications (including SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate effectively with all levels.
  • Demonstrated project management skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise discretion and independent judgment.

Desired:

  • Utility industry experience
  • Working knowledge of one or more PSEG collective bargaining agreements
  • Masters Degree in Human Resources and/or Labor Relations
  • Experience working in a collaborative labor relations environment
  • Experience working in a multi-union environment
