The Office of Facilities (OF) at the Department of Health (DOH) oversees a diverse range of facilities and services, including campus operations, field offices, warehouses, boat storage, and a medical logistics center. OF is made up of the following teams Building Management, Workplace Safety, and Business Services.

This position is part of the Business Services Team and reports to the Business Services Manager. As the Agency Transportation Officer, you will play a key role in managing vehicle programs, fleet services, and parking enforcement. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Vehicle Management Program: Design and implement vehicle management policies, track and maintain agency-owned vehicles, establish criteria for vehicle assignment, develop training programs, monitor compliance, and maintain an accurate vehicle inventory.
  • Fleet Services: Maintain records, assist with the INVERS vehicle reservation system, track vehicle data, provide monthly usage reports and update policies related to vehicle management.
  • Agency Assigned Vehicles: Handle infractions, liaise between DES Fleet Services and DOH staff, provide monthly usage reports, consult on fleet operations, and resolve complex fleet issues.
  • Parking Enforcement: Conduct periodic parking patrols, manage parking violation logs in SharePoint, coordinate violations and towing, and handle appeal decisions.
The duty station for this fulltime permanent Agency Transportation Officer is in Tumwater, WA. A combination of in-office and telework is currently expected. It is anticipated that in-person work will be expected at the duty station for work activities 2-days weekly.

Required Qualifications

Option 1:
Completion of a formal post-high school education or certificate program AND two (2) years of experience in two or more of the following:
  • Experience with fleet management.
  • Experience with parking management.
  • Experience with fleet decarbonization or transition to electric vehicles.
  • Experience maintaining fleet logs for accidents, infractions, repairs or usage.
  • Procurement or invoicing experience
  • Customer service experience that includes resolving problems and responding to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and services.
Option 2: Four (4) years of experience in two (2) or more of the following:
  • Experience with fleet management.
  • Experience with parking management.
  • Experience with fleet decarbonization or transition to electric vehicles.
  • Experience maintaining fleet logs for accidents, infractions, repairs or usage.
  • Procurement or invoicing experience
  • Customer service experience that includes resolving problems and responding to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and services.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience on statewide interagency committees.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
  • Creating correspondence that meets policy and forms protocol.
  • Experience with a state, local or federal government.

Conditions of Employment/Working Conditions

Because the Office of Facilities has the responsibility to manage inward facing emergencies, this position must be willing and able to work 12+ hour shifts, including overnight shifts. Shift work can go on for a long period with few days off. In an outward facing emergency, this position may be activated as part of the Agencys Incident Management Team, with similar requirements for long shifts, overnight shifts, and few days off.
