The Fleet Program Manager is responsible for continuously analyzing, conducting studies, creating, and managing activities related to the Fleet Services and Capital Investment Plan.

This position will be the subject matter expert (SME) on our telematics (Geotab) and connectivity systems. Will develop and implement management plans on each project and at a program level with respect to budget, schedule, risk assessment, risk management, and the Fleet’s industry regulators/regulations and laws.

Provides oversight of all disciplines associated with the development design, progress and implementation of programs, collaborates on setting key performance indicators to supervise and report on project/programs. Additionally, remains current with the best fleet industry practices including maintenance management applications (predictive maintenance), replacement strategies and makes recommendations regarding effective fleet investments to various levels of management.

Main Responsibilities:

Analyze systems and implement designs, processes, procedures, forms, and work measurements for effective methods of improvement, work simplification efficiency, improvement of manual processing, or for adaptation to computer processing.

Analyze fleet equipment needs and advises operating units on equipment suitability and possible use of alternative types of equipment by considering cost and use factors and other available information

Project future equipment replacement requirements with input from Fleet Team Leader. Reviews output reports, analyze patterns and trends, prepares reports and graphs depicting results of these analyses, and recommends appropriate follow up actions.

Manage fleet data capture and compile reports to determine how the fleet can improve efficiency.

Generate and maintain enhanced reporting, meaningful KPIs, and process/automation improvements to ensure team efficiency, visibility of the portfolio efforts (make Fleet easier for our People).

Collect and analyze fleet data, including fuel consumption, implement strategies to optimize fuel efficiency, mileage, maintenance costs, and driver performance

Prepare regular reports on fleet performance, highlighting key metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.

Develop and reduce maintenance costs, and improve overall fleet productivity.

Stay informed about industry trends, technology advancements, and regulatory changes that may impact fleet management practices.

Fleet Operations Management: Lead the fleet through policy implementation, development, and optimization.

Supporting new designs/innovations through data center end-of-life, with a focus on project design and implementation, capacity and availability improvement, and optimization of the existing fleet (Geotab / Telematics).

Develop and implement fleet management policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company goals.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the truck fleet, including scheduling, dispatching, and routing of vehicles to maximize efficiency and meet delivery targets.

Monitor fleet performance, analyze data, and identify areas for improvement in fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, and driver productivity.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to forecast fleet requirements, plan for growth, and optimize asset utilization.

Driver Management and Training: Lead team of drivers through ongoing training, maintenance, and positive reinforcement.

Monitor driver performance, address any performance issues, and implement driver incentive programs to promote safety and productivity.

Provide ongoing coaching and training to drivers on best practices, safety procedures, and compliance requirements.

Foster a positive work environment that encourages open communication, teamwork, and professional development.

Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with external contractors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of maintenance and repair services for the fleet.

Oversee Capex spend for Fleet (projected $65M over next six years).

Source local services and goods needed to perform day-to-day operations through third-party suppliers.

Maintain a positive and professional relationship with vendors.

Manage vendors effectively ensuring adherence to contract and driving opportunities for cost savings.

Achieve cost savings through effective utilization of suppliers and preferred vendors/contractors and by identifying additional efficiency opportunities, consistent with AES Ohios values.

Inventory Management: Ensure inventory counts for required equipment are up to date

Work with vendors and suppliers to order any necessary tools and equipment.

Work with internal AES personnel to ensure required purchase orders are processed.

Perform additional services and lead specialty projects as business needs arise.

Qualifications:

5+ years experience as a project manager within a technology focused industry.

Experience in leading a team, project management, knowledge of fleet related equipment

Experience working with business partners within a cross-functional matrix environment

Education such as a bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience) a plus.

Professional certification in Project Management (PMP)

Proficiency in using logistic management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and tools to schedule, track, and report on maintenance activities.

Proficient in the use of analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Business Objects, Excel, etc.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Excellent leadership and team management abilities to effectively supervise and empower a diverse maintenance team.

Exceptional organizational and planning skills to prioritize tasks, allocate resources, and meet deadlines.

Full understanding and ability to lead with safety and compliance top of mind.

Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and contractors.

Demonstrated ability to develop successful relationships with and influence customers, both internal and external.

Ability to collaborate effectively across different departments and levels of the organization.

Analytical mindset with the ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and make informed decisions to achieve desired outcomes.

Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identify potential maintenance needs and address them proactively.

Proactive problem-solving approach in fleet management and maintenance.

Ability to learn on the fly when facing problems and open to change when challenged with unfamiliar tasks.

Drive for results and innovation.

Highly proficient in SharePoint.
