DESCRIPTION

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a R&D Technician Position to work in our Analytical Chemistry and Characterization department. Our team works a 9×80 schedule located in Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.

This is an experimental position within the DOE Advanced Reactor Technology (ART) graphite program and will primarily consist of mechanical testing and analysis of nuclear graphite to develop new high temperature reactor (HTR) core components.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Operate, maintain, and repair various laboratory analytical equipment for material property testing. Testing techniques currently in use are mechanical load frames, Laser flash apparatus (LFA), digital scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) dilatometers, and others.
  • Physical, mechanical, and thermal testing of unirradiated and irradiated graphite while maintaining accurate records of equipment operation and experimental data following NQA-1 requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalency.
  • Directly related experience commensurate with level.
  • Testing Designated Position (TDP).

Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 2 ($25.18 – $41.54) / Level 3 ($29.46 – $48.61). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
