JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day-to-day work routine for self and others. Provides leadership of Environmental Department staff in managing environmental compliance focusing on environmental sustainability, decarbonization, and climate regulation and policy issues, including greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and compliance strategy development. Department support to utility companies includes providing technical leadership and advancing collaboration across our utility companies in managing our GHG emissions inventories, agency permitting and reporting, supports emission reduction projects, and decarbonization planning and compliance strategies. Monitors and engages on decarbonization technology advancements. Develops strategies to minimize environmental risk and promotes a safe, positive, and respectful work environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelors Degree environmental, engineering, science or related discipline; and
  • Seven years experience performing environmental compliance or applicable sustainability-related duties; and
  • Prior leadership experience.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate Environmental Department employee work to ensure company compliance with environmental laws and regulations with a focus on decarbonization of natural gas distribution operations and company sustainability initiatives. Provide technical leadership and oversight for Department to:
  • Develop and maintain expertise in current local, state, and federal GHG emissions compliance regulations and laws impacting the company, as well as climate policy and environmental sustainability issues.
  • Provide policy and regulation interpretation, analysis of impacts to company, and submit regulatory comments.
  • Manage GHG emissions inventories, data compilation, and emissions reporting.
  • Identify emissions reduction opportunities and monitor and engage on emerging decarbonization solutions and technologies which may include low carbon fuels, energy efficiency and conservation, emissions capture, carbon offsets and emissions allowance auctions.
  • Support decarbonization compliance across company and apply use of modeling tools for compliance planning as needed.
  • Develop and facilitate decarbonization compliance strategies in collaboration with various departments and stakeholders across the company.
  • Coordinate a program to develop and maintain environmental sustainability and company decarbonization goals and targets in collaboration with other company departments, adjust program as needed to incorporate changes and emerging issues, and track and communicate on goal/target achievements.
  • Assist in conducting compliance audits, project management, and prepare and submit permit and registration applications.
  • Oversee submittals to agencies for consistency and assist in procuring external resources for Department as needed.
  • Oversee preparation of the capital and O&M budgets and implement cost control measures as appropriate to manage expenditures within approved budget.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three years supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Prior experience in contract negotiation and administration.
  • Experience with energy and climate policy engagement and thorough understanding of decarbonization, GHG emissions management, and environmental sustainability issues.
  • Application of economic analysis and metrics to climate issues.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
  • Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
  • Required to maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • May be required to submit to periodic background checks for accessing and managing emissions compliance within regulatory agency systems and/or other secure sensitive business systems.
  • Requires travel: Moderate (up to 25%) with periodic overnight stays.

Offers for this position typically made between $111,240 to $139,050
