Edelman Social Impact & Sustainability team has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Account Supervisor. This position will play a key role on our Social Impact & Sustainability team, focusing on communications strategy, planning, advisory services, stakeholder engagement, outreach and new business development, with clients spanning sectors such as technology, agriculture, clean energy, finance, and food.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Account Supervisor (SAS) is responsible for managing teams client service performance. The SAS should understand Edelmans variety of approaches and capabilities, be able to recommend appropriate and effective strategies and tactics to clients and lead teams on project implementation. Expected competencies include:

Client and Project Oversight:

  • Leads planning, development and management of comprehensive integrated communications programs for diverse client rosters, including Fortune 500 companies, financial institutions, Governments, NGOs, and philanthropies.
  • Oversees client strategies, advisory service engagements, and stakeholder relations
  • Develop frameworks, programs, and partnerships to build authentic and measurable corporate sustainability and ESG programs.
  • Oversees account teams as project manager, driving work quality and operational performance, ensuring deadline adherence, reaction and preparation to navigate industry trends, and ensuring plan execution maps to client objectives within budget.
  • Builds strong relationships with clients, supporting or serving as day-to-day lead across workstreams.
  • Provides strategic counsel on sustainability strategy and communications in real time as well as ongoing to clients. Climate-specific experience including decarbonization strategy, renewable energy, climate finance, nature and biodiversity and ocean/plastic recycling issues is preferred.
  • Versed in sustainability, ESG and impact domains to help clients navigate landscape and drive purpose inside and outside their businesses.
  • Connects and builds relationships between third-party organizations and thought leaders and internal business partners to meet client needs.
  • Delivers high-quality, internal and external communications deliverables, including research and analysis, memos and written recommendations.
  • Sets and leads media relations strategy, including outreach plan creation, executive thought-leadership planning, drafting of materials, event management, growth of contact network and effective pitching and training of spokespersons on speeches and presentations.
  • Serves as ESG and sustainability subject matter expert; understanding and incorporating trends and resource to other Edelman account teams.
  • Demonstrates influence with clients and other stakeholders, selling in ideas, approaches and new services.
  • Understands clients business and industry, addresses client issues thoughtfully, respectfully, and effectively.

Team Management:

  • Supervises staff by organizing, motivating, coaching, consistently providing actionable feedback, and holding team members accountable, as well as participating in regular and annual performance reviews.
  • Sets achievable goals and tasks for direct reports; delegate opportunities and provide resources for staff to meet their goals; consistently measure and reward goal achievement.
  • Resolves conflicts thoughtfully as they arise with respect and diplomacy.

Other:

  • Drives business growth through introducing clients to new capabilities, building a network of industry contacts and participating in relevant professional organizations; aid in new business research and proposal preparation.
  • Initiates new business process, including identifying new business opportunities and helping lead the RFP response process.

  • Demonstrates an expert-level understanding of todays corporate sustainability/ESG landscape and the implications for clients and key trends shaping our clients businesses.

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 6-8 years of relevant experience in Communications Marketing and/or related fields
  • A bachelors degree or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to manage and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage and thrive in ambiguity
  • You should have an understanding of basic public relations tools and how they are used and an expert-level grasp of corporate sustainability including issues such as circular economy, climate change, brand purpose and social impact platform building, sustainable food systems, clean energy/cleantech, ESG and/or sustainable finance. You should have a passion for high-quality work, solid research, writing and editing skills, the ability to develop relationships with media and apply experience and initiative in leading advisory service projects and developing traditional and digital communications strategies.
  • Professional services or agency experience is strongly preferred.
$79,000 – $115,000 a year
An employees pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of DJEHs total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, a Paid Time Off policy, and region-specific benefits.
