Location of Position
This position is a fully remote position, with a hybrid work schedule of 2 in-office days highly encouraged if located near our NYC or Buffalo office locations.

The range for this position is $79,433-$107,468 plus an annual performance-based bonus

Position Summary
The Policy Analyst will report to the Vice President, Policy and Market Development and is critical to CleanCapital’s ability to shape and track policy changes that affect the development and financing of commercial and community solar projects, as well as energy storage projects. The Analyst will analyze new energy storage and non-residential solar market opportunities, track federal and state energy policy and regulatory updates, and provide state-specific program guidance in solar and energy storage markets nationwide in coordination with CleanCapital’s Policy and Market Development team.
The Analyst will help the Vice President, Policy and Market Development keep the company updated on key policy changes that will have a meaningful impact on the company’s solar and/or storage project pipeline and anticipate changes that could change the company’s prioritization of markets. As storage is a growing priority for CleanCapital’s balance sheet, previous storage policy experience or knowledge is preferred.
Core Responsibilities
Track, analyze, and communicate, federal and state-level regulatory dockets, pending legislation, stakeholder working groups, and other sources to understand the nuances of state solar and energy storage markets
Create detailed summaries and regular reports of state and federal solar policy developments
Research energy markets, renewable energy credit markets, or state programs that provide or underpin CleanCapital solar and storage assets.
Support the project acquisition and development team team in analyzing how policy issues impact deal valuation
Represent the company before industry associations, government officials, and other external engagements.

Education Requirements
BS/BA degree in political science, economics, environmental studies, engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
Technical Skills and Experience
1+ years of utility, energy industry, or energy agency experience, including interpreting regulatory and legislative documents, and drafting analyses for colleagues
Knowledge of policy and regulatory matters pertaining to distributed energy resources, with a focus on solar, community solar, and battery storage,
Closely monitor, analyze and develop policy and regulatory priorities across existing and emerging priority markets with a core focus on RTO/ISOs, Power Market Authorities, PUCs, and state legislatures
Develop and apply data-driven insights and methodologies to develop quantitative market insights that will inform our commercial business decisions
Familiarity and experience with project finance concepts, including ability to understand project finance spreadsheets preferred
Experience or familiarity with policy-tracking software , demand side management programs, or other renewable energy demand drivers.
Identify impacts, benefits, and ramifications of policy positions and recommendations for the broader CleanCapital functional teams
Ability to work with trade associations, coalitions, and outside consultants as well as an internal team of professionals
