The Energy Services Program Manager Position

Sunnova Energy is searching for an Energy Services Program Manager to join our growing Energy Services function, which is responsible for unlocking new value streams that represent savings to our customers and profit to Sunnova. This individual will ensure that programs are designed and launched in a way that simplifies the customer experience and maximizes program output.

The role will be responsible for managing grid transformation, demand response, and responsive energy programs across solar, storage, and new load management technologies. The Program Manager will perform a critical role in the lifecycle of our energy services product and service offerings, serving as the central management point in the journey with internal origination functions, external partners, and key operational stakeholders to ensure a seamless hand-off to Sunnova’s VPP and Portfolio Management team for physical operations and delivery. The goal for the Energy Services Program Manager is to deliver a best-in-class experience for Sunnova customers, load serving entities, electrical network operators, utilities, aggregators of various programs and other energy services customers.

The right candidate will be able to leverage electric industry expertise, project management, analytics, and operations experience and skills across a large and growing fleet of distributed energy resources. Energy Services Program Manager Responsibilities

  • Owns the success of Sunnova VPP and aggregation launches by operationalizing programs originated by business development and facilitating hand-off to internal operations teams
  • Strategizes with business development and internal departments on the go-to-market approach for new program launches
  • Partners with Product Managers to drive cross-functional launch processes across Legal, Marketing, Dealer, Customer Care, and Technical departments, driving continuous process improvement for future launches
  • Manages multiple concurrent “high touch” program launch processes for new energy services programs, adapting to quickly changing landscape of programs and technical capabilities while maintaining program integrity and customer centricity
  • Integrates legal and policy considerations into program specifications and drives internal reviews and compliance validation
  • Manages energy services’ program partners and ensures compliance with third party operational and reporting requirements
  • Works with Government Affairs team to monitors for external program changes and proactively proposes needed adjustments to maintain performance
  • Manages stakeholder processes with customer care team to ensure high customer satisfaction and issue resolution
  • Engages with sales functions to ensure thorough evaluation of program requirements and program design is complete before deal close
  • Enables marketing campaigns by being a steward of the program requirements and a strategic partner to the marketing and product marketing functions

Minimum Requirements

  • Education Required: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred (MBA and/or MS in environmental or energy field)
  • 3+ years of experience in program administration or management
  • 5+ years of experience in the energy and/or power sector
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-stakeholder processes and optimizing performance across multiple metrics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in wholesale and grid services’ power markets
  • Project management skills/professional certifications

Additional Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Versatility in working across multiple enterprise applications

Working Conditions
