Job Description


Cadeo is searching for an experienced Energy and Decarbonization Consultant who is passionate about supporting energy efficiency, demand response, and electrification research projects with utilities, NGOs, and government agencies. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and take on different roles. Your tasks will involve providing expert advice on utility program development, conducting research and analysis on new energy-efficient and decarbonization technologies, and sharing best practices for program design and implementation. Simply put, your work will involve analyzing programs and their data to help create more impactful initiatives. You will be responsible for conducting literature reviews, assessing EE/DR/decarbonization measures, collecting and analyzing data, and communicating your findings internally and externally.

This is a full-time position, perfect for experienced researchers or engineers who have a proven track record of successfully completing projects on time and within budget. In addition to your technical expertise, we are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and a history of meeting and exceeding client expectations.

We are seeking candidates with experience in the energy efficiency consulting industry or a related field who possess exceptional analytical skills and a strong desire to learn. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who excels both independently and as part of a team. You should have experience in conducting research and analyzing large datasets from various sources, as well as 3-5 years of prior experience in fields such as engineering, energy management, building science, utility program design, or energy policy. We are looking for a strategic thinker who can distill research findings into actionable insights and next steps.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing research strategies to meet client needs
  • Leading analysis tasks including day-to-day management of tasks and budgets
  • Collecting and analyzing data, including identifying the best source for information and ensuring data accuracy and quality
  • Synthesizing findings and results to provide actionable insights and recommendations for next steps
  • Developing and providing a deep working knowledge of regulatory policies covering energy efficiency programs
  • Incorporating new learnings into energy efficiency program recommendations
  • Conducting literature searches and reviews
  • Presenting research findings in written reports and slide presentations using compelling narratives and graphics (please visit our website for examples)
  • Contributing to multiple project teams, including handling questions and requests from clients and from project team, and escalating project issues appropriately to senior staff

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience with analytical problem solving (summary and synthesis of data) and documenting findings in memos, reports, and/or presentations
  • Training in research design principles
  • Fluency in MS Office applications, including expert use of Microsoft Excel
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, economics, sociology, public policy, environmental science, political science, business administration, or related field plus 3-5 years of relevant professional experience. A master’s degree in one of these study areas can substitute for up to 2 years of experience
  • Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment

Preferred Skills, Education And Experience

  • Understanding of demand side management program structure and typical regulatory settings (preferred)
  • Familiarity with energy and building systems, including HVAC, hot water, and building envelope components (preferred)
  • Knowledge of third-party evaluation requirements and expectations for utility and government program impact(preferred)
