Origination Manager

**Summary:**

The Origination Manager is responsible for managing existing clients, forging new customer relationships, and negotiating and executing structured power transactions for both development and operational projects, with a strong emphasis on new renewable energy products, clients, and regions. The role involves understanding customer needs, developing appropriate product structures, and collaborating with various internal teams for deal structuring and pricing.

**Responsibilities:**

– Identify and initiate new business opportunities and create outreach plans for projects in development, focusing on Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) or similar financial agreements.

– Track market trends and adjust PPA strategies in response to external and internal changes.

– Lead and support negotiations to structure PPAs with commercial, industrial, and utility off-takers.

– Formulate and implement strategies for customers and markets.

– Build and sustain robust relationships with customers and business partners.

– Analyze and develop structures for customers and the company, including risk mitigation solutions.

– Collaborate with development, finance, delivery, and other departments to create customer solutions, including proposals and pricing, and integrate offtake structures into financial models.

– Monitor and report on policy and regulatory changes impacting the company.

– Present deals to senior management for approval.

– Conduct market research to understand policy-driven customer demand, offtake products, risks, and perform due diligence on potential acquisitions and new opportunities.

– Communicate with potential customers to understand their needs and propose or negotiate deal structures and documents.

**Qualifications:**

– Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Economics, Math, Business, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a financial firm or energy development company; an MBA or relevant advanced degree is advantageous.

– At least 3-5 years of specific experience with offtake structures, power purchasers, utility-scale customers, and key power marketing contract concepts related to utility-scale renewable power plants.

– Knowledge of RTO operations, electric transmission, power generation, and storage technologies, particularly in MISO and PJM.

– Proven track record in a development or sales role within the clean energy sector.

– Strong skills in sales, networking, leadership, negotiation, and time management.

– Excellent analytical skills and a strong understanding of financial modeling techniques.

– Exceptional problem-solving, strategic thinking, and communication skills (both verbal and written).

– Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

– Capability to make decisions with limited information and in ambiguous situations.

– Ability to perform under high pressure and urgency.

– Willingness to travel as needed (~30%) to achieve deal targets.
