Job Description

Equans is looking for a Head of Operations Maintenance & Monitoring (Offshore Wind) (Hoboken).

In this function you are responsible for the executions of the projects (warranty/maintenance/upgrades) in the M&M department.

 

Details of the job:

  • project planning and coordination:
    • develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with project teams and stakeholders
    • coordinate resources, equipment, and personnel to ensure timely mobilization and execution of offshore projects
    • identify and mitigate risks, constraints, and dependencies to optimize project outcomes
  • team leadership and management:
    • lead and motivate a diverse team of professionals, including engineers, technicians, and support staff, to achieve project objectives
    • provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
    • conduct regular performance reviews, set clear expectations, and facilitate professional development opportunities for team members
  • client relationship management:
    • serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and addressing inquiries or concerns promptly
    • collaborate with clients to understand their requirements, expectations, and feedback, and ensure alignment with project deliverables
    • proactively identify opportunities for value-added services, upselling, or future collaboration with clients
  • quality assurance and control:
    • establish and maintain quality assurance processes and standards to ensure that deliverables meet or exceed client expectations and industry requirements
    • implement quality control measures, inspections, and audits throughout the project lifecycle to identify and address deviations or non-conformities
  • financial management:
    • monitor project budgets, expenditures, and financial performance to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints and profitability targets
    • identify cost-saving opportunities, efficiency improvements, and revenue-generating initiatives to optimize project economics and maximize ROI
  • tender support:
    • form a team, plan activities in line with hours provided from tender. Ensure functional requirements are understood in the team. Establish relationship with key client staff.  During tenders phase, you are responsible to draft the work procedure, planning and resource estimation
  • HSSE:
    • responsible for the safe execution of the activities within the department according to the HSE procedures and instructions
  • RAMS/Permits To Work:
    • all activities under the teams control are covered within applicable LOTO/permit to work rules following both internal and external procedures, and shall be executed according to an approved RAMS
  • documentation and reporting:
    • responsible for progress and budget reporting towards the Department Manager
    • follow up and act on the HSE information which is given via the team. Use of workplace observation system, toolboxes and Safety Observation Cards (SOC) is mandatory in the whole team
    • proactive informing the Department Manager about projects risks and opportunities identified by the team
    • verify output from the progress reporting software that this reflects reality. Take action where needed
    • insuring the quality of the works and documentation
    • carrying out work inspections walkdowns, and reporting of all actions on the yard and projects
    • review of the M&M quality handbook, update of procedures, forms and guidelines
  • project closure:
    • responsible together with the project managers for a clear and neat handover of systems to the client and of the work to the M&M department
    • coordinate simultaneous operations beforehand and take the appropriate actions to ensure safe execution
    • give feedback to Sales and Development
    • feedback of lessons learnt in the organization
  • change management:
    • monitor and raise any change to client specification and/or subcontractor scope to project management and procurement department
    • follow up that the Offshore Services project managers provide a clear overview of all extra works of the subcontractors and to cost control on a weekly base

 

What do you need to be successful in this function?

  • bachelor’s degree in a relevant field e.g., engineering, project management, marine sciences
  • proven experience (5+ years) in operations management, project management, or related roles within the offshore industry
  • experience in maintenance activities and/or project management for offshore projects
  • experience as operational manager
  • experience in resource planning
  • strong knowledge of offshore operations, including installation, maintenance, and decommissioning activities
  • broad general technical knowledge and more specific specialized in electricity and instrumentation
  • affinity with piping or mechanical
  • proficiency in project management tools, software, and methodologies (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Agile)
  • able to manage good relationships with the client and our partners while monitoring Equans’ interests
  • accurate and administratively strong
  • demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully leading teams and managing complex projects in dynamic environments
  • excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • excellent communication skills: English & Dutch. Knowledge of French and/or German is definitely an added value
