Job Description The wind site manager is responsible and accountable for direct oversight and management of MidAmerican’s operational wind projects. Located at the project job site, the wind site manager is responsible for the safe, environmentally compliant, cost effective and timely execution of project commissioning, operations and maintenance of new wind farms.

Responsibilities

Ensures the safe and cost-effective commissioning, operation and maintenance of wind generation facilities. (25%)

Manages project financial performance including reviewing and approving the day-to-day project expenditures and budgets including both capital and O&M funds. (10%)

Manages and directs employees and contractors both at the site and those supporting the project from other locations to ensure MidAmerican Energy business objectives are achieved. (20%) Provides technical input, coordination with project managers and other internal and external resources, and oversight for unit outages, major overhauls and other projects at the site. (15%)

Ensures compliance with all environmental laws, policies and regulations governing work at the job site and on the project. Directly responsible for ensuring contractors performing work on site comply with all environmental and land use permit conditions. Reviews environmental scope and audits construction activities. (5%)

Maintains project schedules; keeps management informed on specified frequency (i.e. weekly status reports, monthly reports). (10%)

Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the community and stakeholders. Act as company liaison with property owners to provide efficient trouble-free operation. Assists in administration of wind project leases and easements. (5%)

Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%)

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.)

Six years of related project management or energy industry experience including three years supervisory management responsibilities.

Knowledge in new renewable/alternative energy power projects preferred.

Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. The ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds.
