Responsibilities

Come join Baker Tilly’s Development & Community Advisory (DCA) team as a Junior Solar Project Analyst working on our Development and Community Advisory Energy and Infrastructure team.

Overview:

  • Perform project-level TDD/FDD (coordinate documentation, analyze project technical information, verify financial forecast/assumptions, perform project risk assessment, prepare DD package for lenders (as needed), operate portal)
  • Solar for All Program (SFA) aims to deliver the benefits of solar and the clean energy economy to low-income and environmental justice communities across states and Tribal Nations. The Solar Project Analyst is primarily responsible for performing the technical and financial due diligence efforts of the SFA program. This role works extensively across internal departments within Baker Tilly to ensure the technical and financial success of projects funded by the SFA program.
  • The Solar Project Analyst reports to the Program Manager, SFA. This position is located in Chicago, Illinois; Austin, Texas; or Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities:

  • Support due diligence activities of large-scale clean energy deployment (SFA) programs alongside program leadership, program delivery partners, and State Energy offices.
  • Analyze and evaluate technical specifications of clean energy projects for adherence to SFA program guidelines.
  • Support due diligence process for clean energy project transactions including coordination with internal teams and external financial partners.
  • Synthesize and communicate project economic summaries and funding recommendations to senior management.
  • Interpret and review terms in project-level agreements and financing agreements and communicate findings to management.
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders including project developers, financing partners, regulatory agencies, utilities, and internal teams to ensure project success.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, energy, engineering, or related field of study required; a Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 1-2+ years of experience working in the energy industry (utilities, utility-run programs, residential solar) or in finance, banking, consulting, or related field.
  • Demonstrated organizational and coordination skills.
  • A demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
