About The Role

DNV is growing its equity-related service offering to support strong demand from clients seeking solutions and integrated services to maximize the benefits of the clean energy transition for traditionally marginalized and underserved customers. We are seeking a Senior Consultant of Energy and Climate Equity with experience transforming societal risk into equitable market opportunities to join our Markets & Risk team in North America.

This position includes responsibility for supporting business development, project management and providing subject matter expertise on a range of initiatives and projects aimed at advancing an equitable energy transition through transformative community and interested parties engagement. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with client-facing experience in energy, climate change, equity, and/or risk assurance who is seeking a role that involves strategic, big picture thinking, collaboration, and an interdisciplinary approach to solving complex challenges.

  • Conduct primary research including in-depth interviewing, semi-structured interviewing, ethnographic research, facilitating focus groups or workshops, and telephone or web-based surveys. Perform secondary research, including literature reviews, internet research, document review and database review.
  • Provide insights and lead and/or support research and analyses focused on addressing climate and equity-related risks including evaluation of the distribution of benefits from utility-sponsored programs, non-energy impact assessments, geospatial analyses, socio-economic analyses, climate risk planning, and community benefit plans.
  • Collaborate with DNV teams across practice areas, North America and globally (Renewables Advisory, Power System Advisory, Storage and Grid Edge Services, and ESG Services) that represent the entire energy delivery and decarbonization value chains to develop creative approaches that help customers advance equitable access to the benefits of decarbonized energy systems, increase procedural (and other dimensions of) equity, and develop community benefits plans.
  • Talk to clients and potential clients about their organizations’ goals and needs around decarbonization and equity. Interpret customers’ problems to be solved and questions to be addressed and convert into value-added opportunities.
  • Interact with compassion, build and maintain interpersonal relationships, strengthen the team through guidance and encouragement to peers, and collaborate with team members and external stakeholders to share knowledge and best practices
