Mammalian Gene Editing Scientist

We’re looking for someone who’s excited to be part of a mission-driven growth phase Biotech/Agtech company. Demeetra AgBio is seeking a motivated Scientist to join its Cell Systems team to participate in the optimization of gene editing enzymes in industrial biomanufacturing organisms to produce high value molecules. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to plan and execute high quality, creative scientific work independently as well as in collaboration with others.

We are looking for candidates with in-depth knowledge of gene editing in mammalian cell lines. Knowledge and hands-on experience in cell culture, gene editing, and assay development are required. The successful candidate will preferably have strong molecular biology skills and practical experience optimizing cell-based techniques and downstream characterization of mammalian cells. Industrial or academic experience and familiarity with analytical processes and biological cell characterization is desirable. Must be able to collaborate with colleagues and communicate effectively.

Requirements:

·      PhD in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Microbial Physiology, Synthetic Biology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related discipline with 2-3 years of academic or industrial experience.

·      First or Co Authorship in a peer-reviewed journal

·      Experience in mammalian cell culture and the use of CRISPR-based technologies for genetic modification

·      Knowledge of assay development and processes is a plus

·      Downstream analyses such as RT-PCR, western blotting, single-cell cloning, and FACS

·      Proficiency with vector cloning and using molecular biology software

·      Must be able to perform daily functions independently with little to no instructions on routine work, and with general instructions on new assignments.

·      Excellent oral and written communication skills

·      Able to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines, and excel in a fast-paced start-up environment

·      Demonstrated success on working productively both independently and within in a team

·      Able to work on site Monday-Friday with ability to work on weekends if necessary

·      Able to travel as required
