Position Description

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for working within a Project Management Team on managing & executing projects from estimating to project completion – including planning, management direction, field-work management & oversight, client communication & satisfaction, and financial outcome of assigned construction projects. This person is also responsible for growing our existing customer base through positive and responsive customer interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Project Administration:

  • Manage projects through pre-planning, estimating and project handoff, cost tracking, vendor & subcontractor selection and management, billing, project documentation, and project closeout
  • Manage existing customer relationships and provide excellent customer service to help grow the department
  • Identify and promote new opportunities for business and promote E-J’s services
  • Liaise with field supervision to identify work opportunities, manage obstacles, and help push progress

Project Documentation

  • Layout/Design and manage drawings and documents in Procore

Communication & Coordination:

  • Extensive collaboration with the in-house engineering team on drawing production – quality control, layout, scope requirements, best practices
  • Attend project meetings – both internal & external

Budget & Cost Tracking:

  • Work with the Accounting department on billing, cash flow, financial projections, vendor & subcontractor invoice review and approval, and overall cost management and budgeting

Contract Administration

  • Prepare estimates/cost analyses for contractual scope, change orders, and bis estimate analysis

Schedule Management

  • Project manpower for projects on a weekly basis
  • Coordination of site inspections with local AHJ and subcontractors

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years experience estimating and/or project managing of commercial construction projects
  • Electrical field experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Suite
  • Experience with Procore a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to identify potential projects prior to them becoming bigger issues
  • Demonstrated experience in staying organized and following up on tasks
  • Ability to work on tasks efficiently and prioritize work
  • Ability to self-manage work, preferably via close communication with the project team
  • Ability to identify and meet customers’ expectations and requirements
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others

Salary Range: $45,000 – $75,000/year
