Job purpose

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for leading the day-to-day coordination and transition between the Business Development side of the business and the Operations side, while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external resources as necessary. This role will also interact with customers, understand their requirements, and needs, and be able to provide solutions in the pre-job phase as well as during execution, serving as a point of escalation to the Operations group. This individual should be experienced in the Renewable Energy space with a strong background in working on both sides of the sales process, dealing externally with Customers and Suppliers, as well as cross functionally with Operations. They will support the efforts of building an industry leading crane business that is known for its seamless collaboration with its customers.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Commercial side of the business and the Operations side, including leading smooth project transitions to Operations, ensuring Customers are receiving proper communication throughout the lifecycle of the project, and supporting any Change Orders necessary.
  • Own the lifecycle process, including updates and process improvements, through constant feedback with the Business Development and Operations teams.
  • Work closely with the Operations team, the individual Branches and Fleet Manager(s) to provide feedback on forecasted demand, to ensure projects can be equipped appropriately and accurately, prior to bidding, and avoiding unnecessary delays after award(s).
  • Work alongside Business Development during the qualification process when MLCG is working with a new customer.
  • Run project tracking tool(s) and be able to provide weekly updates to the broader business leadership.
  • Responsible for ensuring MLCG qualification(s) with existing customers are current.
  • Serve as a liaison with Customers for emerging issues prior to, or during the execution of projects, as well as during the warranty period thereafter.
  • Support long term strategic project pricing strategies.
  • Manage a specified set of customers, and ensure they are properly being cared for.
  • Ability to independently build channel partners to unlock additional opportunities.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple opportunities at one time and meet Customer deadlines as needed.
  • Capable of quickly gathering high-level understanding of complex technical/construction staffing and equipment supply issues.
  • Understanding of the Renewable Energy market, demand fluctuations, and execution requirements to periodically ensure project costing is being accurately represented.
  • Lead efforts in Supplier development and qualification based on upcoming business needs to better place MLCG in the market against competitors.
  • Work with the Supply Chain organization to execute Purchase Order/Sub-contracts in accordance with policy terms and conditions.
  • Main point of escalation for their customer base.
  • Coordinate with other members of the Business Development team as needed to generate sales, through existing customer relationships, and provide excellent Customer Service.
  • Supporting the Leadership Team in implementing development strategies, aiming for success within the Renewables industry, including the identification of opportunities, assisting in bid preparation and management, as needed.
  • Drive the MLCGs safety culture, ensuring Safety, Health, Quality and Environmental requirements are delivered and implemented to the highest standards.
  • Take keen interest in finding and sharing knowledge about new developments, market trends, construction practices, known competitors products and activities.
  • Up to 25%-50% travel to support internal and external demands.


Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of Functional Management experience.
  • Contract and Customer management and negotiations experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of Renewable Energy experience, preferably in Customer facing roles.

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of Wind Farms and within the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model.
  • An effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral and written skills.
  • Proven ability to work across an organization, leveraging other groups for success.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems independently.

Working conditions

The employee may be required to wear appropriate PPE equipment. The employee could occasionally be exposed to extreme temperatures, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level in the workplace is moderate.
