We are seeking a Warranty Manager to join our team in support of our Renewable Energy Project Operating Assets. This role is part of the Transition and Warranty department and will be responsible for developing and coordinating the organizations warranty/LTSA program for OEM equipment, EPC workmanship issues, and LTSAs (long-term service agreements) specific to AES Clean Energy renewable energy projects, including but not limited to solar, battery storage and wind project assets.

The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the warranty/LTSA program, applying a cross-functional leadership style working closely with internal teams such as Project Execution, Engineering, Operations, and Procurement, as well as externally with OEMs and EPCs who have supplied equipment and services to AES projects.

Key interactions include Indianapolis and Louisville, CO based team members, corporate team members, vendors, and contractors. The ability to effectively collaborate with O&M Field Service and Performance/Reliability Engineering teams, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills and proactive approach to effective resolution of warranty issues, will be keys to success.

Manager will be directly collaborating with high-level vendor, contractor, and service agreement executives to resolve claims and generate a tangible impact on AES Clean Energys financial performance.

As such, the candidates shall have strong executive presence, coupled with adequate technical & commercial aptitudes and be able to understand what constitutes legitimate warranty claims and technical issues faced by the Operating renewable project Assets.

This role location is flexible with requirements for travel as needed to facilitate actions to drive completion of warranty claims impacting operating assets throughout the nation.

Responsibilities:

  • Handles warranty/LTSA claims process, from initiation to closeout.
  • Develops and enhances our warranty/LTSA management program, including net new processes and KPIs where necessary
  • Leads and drives major operational warranty/LTSA claims through OEMs or EPCs, through completion, to restore equipment to full operation and minimize loss of energy revenue to AES.
  • Interprets EPC and OEM Equipment MSA and LTSA contract language to understand the Contractors and Vendors responsibilities related to equipment.
  • Guides the Operations team in accurately handling equipment repairs and maintenance following Contract clauses, limiting Companys exposure to additional costs or potential warranty breach.
  • Reviews and analyzes contract records to advise technical and Commercial SMEs to resolve legitimacy of claims.
  • Coordinates clarifications and closure with contractors and OEMs on warranty related queries, in timely manner.
  • Supports integration of Company systems to track, supervise and control warranty claims costs.
  • Participate in regular warranty/LTSA status meetings with Reliability Engineering and OEMs.
  • Is responsible for the warranty/LTSA claims reporting by creating and maintaining a database of all claims.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with the setup, implementation, and end-to-end Execution of a Warranty/LTSA Program.
  • Able to develop and implement a companywide program while clearly communicating expectations across all levels of the business.
  • Knowledge of EPC contract agreements and warranty claim processes required, plus various methodologies for claims pricing and preparation required.
  • Able to identify contract specifications that allot risk and provide appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Knowledge of technical issues faced across multi-disciplinary operations and maintenance such as failures of mechanical and electrical systems and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to establish a vision of growth and adapting lessons learned from warranty issues.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7+ years of operating asset experience handling warranty issues.
  • Strong Project Management.
  • Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Renewable energy industry knowledge
  • Dealing with complex claims and dispute resolution procedures required

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $120,000 and $153,000/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an at-will position and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
