Job Description

Working from either Jersey or Guernsey, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Mourant’s internal and client facing sustainability actions. For the first 12 months of this role you will be responsible for the design and adoption of a net zero transition plan which will contribute to the delivery of our global commitments to environmental sustainability.
Subsequently you will use your expertise to deliver our sustainability services to clients. Such services will ensure compliance with sustainability regulations and best practices, conducting assessments of regulatory requirements, developing tailored strategies to assist clients in meeting their sustainability goals, and providing guidance on integrating sustainability considerations into financial practices.
Previous consulting experience is not essential, and candidates who have a proven track record of effectively applying sustainability practices in different contexts will be considered favourably. Ultimately, we are seeking individuals with a demonstrable passion for sustainability, and the desire to drive positive change both internally at Mourant and externally for the benefit of our clients.
If you would like to join an ambitious and forward thinking firm whose inclusive culture and values recognise that its people are fundamental to its success, we would love to hear from you.

About this role

In this role, you will:
  • Use stakeholder management skills to deliver, with the support of colleagues and subject matter experts, a net zero transition plan for the firm.
  • Assist in the development of sustainability related products and services consistent with Mourant Consulting vision and strategy.
  • Ensure high quality client service levels by delivering on client mandates with colleagues to ensure they are delivered effectively to a high standard and meet deadlines.
  • Keep abreast of all regulatory changes and industry standards for the purpose of providing relevant products and services.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Associate, provide technical advice on products and services to clients.
  • Develop key client deliverables such as reports and working papers, including managing the input from Senior Associate and Director before final submission to client.
  • Monitor mandate risks, budgets and WIP, including identifying where efficiencies can be made.
  • Manage client expectations and nurture relationships to increase the potential for repeat business and referrals.
  • Support the Senior Associate and Director with the preparation for business development meetings with target clients, attend those meetings, and assist with the development of client mandate proposals. Work collaboratively with the law firm to ensure consultancy services are consistent with Mourant’s ‘one firm’ approach.
  • Liaise and collaborate with the firm’s Business Services teams to ensure policies, procedures, systems, and controls are followed in practice.

About you – essential requirements

  • Educated to degree level, ideally with at least 3 years’ working experience.
  • Sound knowledge of and experience in sustainability, and knowledge of the global sustainability frameworks.
  • Client focused with an ability to listen and understand clients’ needs and consistently exceed their expectations.
  • Possess a high level of intellectual rigour with a desire to build and maintain technical skills and expertise.
  • Effective presentation skills and the ability to facilitate workshops both internally and externally.
  • Further education in sustainability and environmental studies (e.g. environmental science, sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, etc) is desirable.
