Safety Leader
East Haven, CT initially and will move to North Haven, CT in late July or August (onsite position)

  • Ensure Schneider-Electric EcoFit Connecticut employees and operations maintain compliance with all environments, health, and safety regulations; and keep abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
  • Report out on appropriate metrics, evaluate data trending, and provide data input to management reviews, with a view to continuous improvement and enhancement of EHS performance.
  • Assist with the implementation of EHS policies, practices, guidelines, and procedures. Identify location-specific requirements for each area and participate in the development of related programs and policies.
  • Assist in developing training programs and conduct training to comply with regulatory and corporate EHS initiatives.
  • Lead the incident/accident investigation process including root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Conduct environment, health and safety audits and risk assessments. Participate in external EHS compliance audits and loss prevention audits.
  • Lead to the completion of all corrective actions with site personnel resulting from risk assessments, compliance audits or loss prevention audits.
  • Consult with facilities maintenance and property management personnel to ensure appropriate fire and life safety controls are in place and maintained.
  • Oversee required permitting submissions for air, water, and land jurisdictional requirements.
  • Function as a technical EHS resource for management and the safety committee. Lead the site safety committee.
  • Participate in the sites Continuous Improvement/Lean/5S activities. Provide recommendations for improving EHS practices within the facility.
  • Oversee site ergonomics program with assistance from third party resource.
  • Manage ISO 14001 and 45001 requirements and hold quarterly Management reviews and report out on objectives and targets.
  • Participate in weekly Plant Leadership meetings and report out on EHS leading and lagging metrics.
  • Perform project work to reduce overall carbon footprint to meet net zero initiatives.
  • Lead and drive a safety-first culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environment, Health, and Safety Management or equivalent.
  • Prior experience or familiarity with Manufacturing Plant operations.
  • 5 10 Years of EHS experience within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of environment, health and safety guidelines and regulations; a good working knowledge of health and safety engineering, and a highly refined understanding of the issues related to manufacturing and delivery/service environments.
  • Knowledge and experience with managing ISO 45001 and 14001.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing of electrical products is preferred.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PPT, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Must have ability to communicate through all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to be on call for emergencies as the location has operations that occur 24/7.
