Summary
Fast-growing Grid Edge Engineering team seeks a highly motivated candidate to support the development and implementation of new Transportation Electrification (TE) projects and programs. The candidate will work closely with TE programs team to develop and execute managed charging demonstration projects (demand response, optimized charging, vehicle-to-everything). The ideal candidate will have an engineering background, experience working at/with a utility, and be familiar with the principles of test engineering and product development.
In this role, you will work on the leading edge of electric vehicle charge management technology and through well-designed demonstration projects you will help the company decide which solutions should be offered as full-scale customer programs. These programs would be part of a Virtual Power Plant that would improve our ability to balance the load on the grid as we increase renewable energy generation and create a clean energy future.
Responsibilities
Project Development: Define project scope, learning objectives, test plan, and other project plan elements to ensure the project delivers valuable results and allows client to evaluate the projects viability for larger scale deployment
Testing: Lead the execution of the test plan including software integrations, communication protocols, and data sharing while identifying potential challenges and developing solutions
Project Evaluation: Develop the strategy to evaluate the project results against its objectives, analyze data to quantify the results, and document and share the learnings with key stakeholders
Technical Expertise: Act as the subject matter expert providing clear direction for the project, answering technical questions, and maintaining currency in relevant technologies and engineering practices
Procedure: Adhere to client’s strategic innovation process and project management methodology for stakeholder engagement, tracking, approvals, evaluation, and governance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing tests and evaluating results
Project management experience
Knowledge of electric vehicle charging hardware, software, and communication protocols, including bi-directional charging
Experience with electric vehicle charge management systems, demand response management systems (DRMS), distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS), or virtual power plants (VPP)
Strong knowledge of electrical fundamentals (volts, amps, kilowatts, kilowatt-hours)
Ability to quickly develop and apply learnings
Ability to take initiative and move forward without clear direction
Ability to collaborate and work well in cross-functional teams
Ability to speak confidently and build trust with others
Strong decision-making skills
Strong written and oral-communication skills
