About the Role
We currently have an outstanding career opportunity for a western U.S., Business Development Manager – California. It is a requirement of the position to be located in the state of California. Use your knowledge of distributed energy resources and the market landscape to bring software solutions to customers who are deploying distributed energy resources. The Business Development Manager position is a key driver in developing customer relationships to support our company growth in the clean energy economy. The position reports to the Chief Marketing Officer.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Management team to identify customer needs, create customer personas, and develop market requirements for software products.
- Discover and establish partnerships and alliances with other industry players to create new distribution channels and accelerate the value proposition of the Doosan platform.
- Develop key accounts and build relationships with potential software customers focused on long-term cultivation rather than immediate sales.
- Identify pilot opportunities and early-stage deployments with customers with shared risk schemes.
- Manage highly collaborative communication and customer expectations with Product Management, Marketing and Software Development teams to minimize company risk and ensure quality delivery of services.
- Work with legal to support contract development and negotiations with customers.
- Represent company interests at industry conferences, trade shows, and other related events.
- Travel required >30% of working weeks.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the energy sector and specifically in software sales.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations and Supply Chain, Engineering, Computer Science, or other related field.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in closing complex sales cycles.
Required
- Located in California.
- Expertise in building a qualified sales pipeline for System Integration projects utilizing our DGIC software and managing customer development.
- Demonstrated experience with navigating complex sales cycles and negotiations in closing software contracts and license agreements.
- Demonstrated understanding of distributed energy resources (DER’s) and battery storage.
- Knowledge of power industry controls SW including DER Management Systems (DERMS) and Virtual Power Plants (VPP).
- Client-focused demeanor.
- Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional composure, credibility and judgement necessary to gain the respect and confidence of all stakeholders and customers.
- Passion for renewable energy and promoting DER technology.
Desired
- Previous experience with energy storage controls, DERMS, or VPP related software.
- Understanding of renewable energy and DER industry channels that serve this market.
- Experience developing go-to-market strategy for fast growing market across multiple customer segments.
