Position Overview

The Director of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Operations is responsible and accountable for leading and managing the O&M department. This role’s primary job responsibilities include personnel management, strategic planning, budgeting, and operational process management. The role will be expected to work closely with other business units and departments to ensure efficient and high-quality internal processes.

Strategic Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and execute departmental strategy and budget.
  • P&L (profit and loss) responsibility and accountability
  • Track, update, and report monthly department KPIs.
  • Maintain and improve O&M-specific safety program.
  • Drive ongoing enhancement and development of O&M IT tools and processes.
  • Monitor and implement new code & industry standards.
  • Support in the development of new service offerings.
  • Manage team members’ performance evaluations.
  • Support on training, professional development, and performance management.
  • Support in coordination and facilitation of internal project hand-off meetings upon contract execution.
  • Define and maintain team service standards.
  • Manage equipment calibration and recertification program.
  • Define and maintain team service standards.
  • Project and maintain appropriate staffing levels.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Support the smooth execution of day-to-day operations.
  • Provide hiring support for new staff including interviewing and onboard training.
  • Support Commercial Sales team and O&M Portfolio Managers in reviewing and interpreting scopes of work.
  • Support in estimation, contract negotiations, and contract renewals.
  • Support in the coordination of customer onboarding.
  • Provide technical guidance to O&M staff.
  • Coordinate and facilitate recurring O&M department meetings.
  • Address severe performance and customer issues.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental resource sharing.
  • Meet with office and field teams at regular intervals.
  • Coordinate with O&M field teams to meet on job sites and Namaste Solar office(s) on a regular basis.
  • Manage inventory of materials, tools, vehicles, safety equipment, and apparel.
  • Timecard and expense approval.
  • Serve as backstop coverage for monitoring and portfolio manager duties.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be comfortable working in a fluid and complex work environment.
  • Clear understanding of electrical safety standards.
  • Advanced understanding of commercial PV and/or electrical systems and related code, standards, and designs.
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to set clear expectations.
  • People management experience.
  • Experience sourcing new industry products, applications, and system designs.
  • Proficient with computer applications (Microsoft products, CRMs, etc.)
  • Desire to manage and improve IT workflows.
  • Ability to occasionally work off-hours, weekends, and/or holidays (with flex time provided as compensation)

Non-essential (Valued But Not Required Skills & Experience)

  • Electrical License (JW or ME).
  • NABCEP/COSEIA certification.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Advanced Degree.
