Software Applications Engineer (Contract)

Job Summary

This position will design, develop, test, and document a variety of projects including application and embedded software for medical devices and other complex electromechanical systems, desktop applications, server systems and web services.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test software applications and GUIs in C# .Net, C++, C, IOS and Android
• Architect and design SW based on workflows
• Working with database architectures
• Debug problems requiring a sub-systems-level understanding of a product
• Design and implement algorithms in MATLAB then porting them to C/C++
• Participate in defining requirement specifications, software design documents, and formal test protocols that are compliant with FDA guidelines and regulations for medical projects
• Rapid development of software for proof-of-concept including board bring-up, operating system bring-up, and device driver development may be needed
• Participate in work breakdown, estimating task duration, understanding risk assessment, and issue tracking

Education, Experience, and Skills

• B.S. with 6+ yrs experience or M.S. with 4+ yrs experience Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Three – five years’ experience in highly interdisciplinary teams, including direct interaction withscientists and/or systems engineers. Solid knowledge in one or more of the following: Applications,Embedded, User experience, Mobile, Image Processing, Control systems, Aerospace
• Knowledgeable and experienced in multiple software development lifecycles. Agile/Scrum training ahuge plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment
• Proven problem solving skills
• Scripting language essential
• MATLAB, MathCad, VisSim, a plus

The hourly range for jobs which are performed in US, California is $25.00 to $250.00. Please note that the salary range is a guideline and compensation may vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and work location.
