Job Summary

Under the direction of the Tasting Room Manager, the Host/Hostess will greet and welcome arriving guests, check-in guests with tasting appointments and arrange appointments for walk-in guests as available. The host/ess is the first person the guest sees. As a result, the appearance, mannerisms, and personality of the host exemplifies the very first guest impression and response of our establishment. The Host/ess should ideally possess retail, restaurant, hospitality, or hotel experience, should have a super-charged, customer-focused attitude, and a vibrant enthusiasm for wine and food and the wine lifestyle. California has thousands of Tasting Rooms, but only the best offer new and unforgettable experiences. This seasonal position is part-time, up to 29 hours weekly, and requires a flexible schedule and weekend availability.

Essential Functions

  • Primary point of contact for all guest interactions to include greeting in-person or via telephone, responding to inquiries, executing daily reservations, processing ticket sales, and assisting at special events to ensure the best guest experience possible.
  • Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly, and courteous service at all times.
  • Under limited supervision, promotes the sale of experiences and non-wine products sold in the Tasting Room
  • Work collaboratively with Tasting Room teams to organize and manage reservations for the daily customer experience.
  • Provide information regarding various Tasting Room experiences and general tourist information.
  • Utilize POS and reservation systems to manage reservations. Possess a high level of integrity for performing sales transactions as needed.
  • Handles routine purchase transactions, which includes operating a cash register.
  • Required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as requested.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 18 years of age or older with a valid CDL
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Host/ess is ideal.
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor when dealing with guests and vendors.
  • Highly motivated, hospitality- and sales-driven with an outstanding work ethic
  • Works well with others at all levels and departments
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, work effectively in team/crew environment, adherence to all safety regulations and operating procedures.

Physical Demands

  • Working environment has exposure to both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Compensation

  • Hourly Pay Range Posted: $16.49 – $24.76/hr.
  • Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience; skills, knowledge, and abilities; education; and other position related factors.
