Administrative Assistant Job Summary This position provides a broad range of administrative support to the Metro North and Northwest Region External Affairs teams. The teams consist of nine employees responsible for a wide variety of job functions, from community engagement to region operations. The position requires working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment and time will be allocated between the Metro North & Northwest regions. The assigned work location will be in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative, is eager to learn, and is extremely detailed oriented. Duties will include, but are not limited to, timekeeping, expense reporting, scheduling/coordinating meetings, managing calendars, creating presentations, and tracking monthly budgets.

Job Requirements

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Administrative/clerical certification such as Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) or Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) is desired, but not required

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Experience working in an administrative position in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience supporting a large organization
  • Ability to represent the department, including professional interactions with executives, managers, peers, and external business partners and community leaders
  • Ability to multi-task, and prioritize work activities while meeting the needs of the organization within the required deadlines, and with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage calendar, travel, inbox, and incoming calls while ensuring the region executive remains abreast of daily activities and requests
  • Must be an effective team player that is able to build and maintain strong relationships with other Executive/Administrative Assistants and across the Company, and provide back-up support to others as needed
  • Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Ability to leverage resources to pull together and provide relevant, appropriate information around business needs/issues and create effective PowerPoint presentations utilizing such data
  • Proficiency in, or ability to learn, Southern Company Enterprise Foundations Oracle Systems
  • Must utilize good judgment and decision-making skills to either involve leadership or make independent decisions, as appropriate
