The Opportunity…

Serve as one of the Outreach Department’s primary point of contact for GRID Alternatives’ projects and programs. Work closely with Regional Outreach Team, Construction, Workforce Development, Communications, Philanthropy, and Programs teams to plan, coordinate, and carry out all relevant Outreach activities listed below:

  • Execute on Outreach strategies for GRID’s projects/programs. The current focus is on single family solar and may include community solar, and multifamily solar and other products and offerings in the future.
  • Execute on client education and acquisition processes from beginning to end, including the following: Lead generation, application processing, executing contracts, managing interconnection agreements, post install and all workflow documentation.
  • Responsible for all communication with clients, focusing on providing an excellent client experience. Clients are mostly income-qualified households (homeowners, renters, residents).
  • Educate clients on GRID’s offerings through various channels
  • Initiate, engage and build partnerships with value aligned community based organizations, local government agencies, affordable housing entities, and other groups that could assist with client acquisition and support education goals, and maintain those relationships
  • Attend or present at community events/meetings to generate client leads, increase awareness of GRID’s service within low-income communities, and convey the importance of renewable energy access for all
  • Act as a communication team member by curating and writing client stories, providing content support for marketing materials, and maintaining GRID’s branding
  • Serve as liaison and collaborate effectively with GRID HQ Outreach team and all GRID’s clients, partners, and departments
  • Meet all KPI’s for Approved Applications and other outreach related goals for your regions’ goals
  • Prepare, document, and submit reports on activities’ status in a timely cadence
  • Other responsibilities to fulfill on GRID’s mission

What You Need To Bring To This Role…

The primary requirement is to have a positive, can-do attitude. Other requirements are as follows:

  • Passion for environmental and social justice, sustainability, affordable housing, and the environment
  • Comfortable working and communicating with diverse populations and teams
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects and programs
  • Flexible and willing to embrace change and bring ideas and energy to a rapidly growing organization
  • Comfortable with public speaking and making presentations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal/written, ability to meet with partner organizations, and be a positive ambassador for GRID Alternatives)
  • Must also be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Office, G-Suite, (Gmail, G-, G-Sheets, databases, etc)
  • Some weekends may be required

It would be great if you also had…

  • Experience working with Low/Moderate Income (LMI) communities
  • 1-2 years experience working in a professional environment
  • Salesforce (or other CRM); MS Teams, Zoom
  • Second Language (particularly Spanish) is a big plus
  • Experience and knowledge of solar energy

Where you will sit and the places you may go…

This position is based out of our Washington, DC office and may rarely require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as company-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required.

GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay commensurate with experience within the pay band ($23.25-$26.50 per hour), plus the benefits below.
