Position Title: Construction Management Representative

Location: Crystal Cave in Sequoia National Park, Three Rivers, CA

Period Of Performance: 213 calendar days (142 workdays) – Exact dates of performance have yet to be determined.

Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000 annually based on experience

Project Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Management Representative for an exciting opportunity at Crystal Cave in Sequoia National Park. We are always looking for hard working professionals to join our diverse workforce and gain experience on a large variety of projects.

Project/Position Overview:

This project will repair and replace the damaged utilities for Crystal Cave in Sequoia National Park. The Crystal Cave water and electrical utilities were damaged during the KNP Complex. Replacing the electrical system service cables will restore power to the cave lighting system allowing visibility within the cave system. During Design Development phase a condition assessment of existing waterline will be conducted. Repairing the water main will be determined at that time. This repair will allow for safe drinking water at the parking lot as well as provide water for maintenance of batteries, solar panels, and restroom facilities. The potable water will also provide a level of fire protection for the buildings associated with the cave. The integrity of this water system is critical to the ability to provide quality restroom facilities for visitors and employees, maintenance of battery bank and solar panels as well as providing a level of fire protection for the kiosk, battery bank, storage building, solar panels, diesel generator, two vault toilets, and parking lot. The cave lighting system will be inoperable without power.

This role is contingent upon award.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide technical assistance and support to CO during construction
  • Arrange, attend and facilitate a variety of meetings, including weekly meetings at the project site.
  • Document issues encountered and problems experienced with the construction contractor.
  • Review contractor’s baseline and progress schedules
  • Draft project related correspondence for NPS to review and issuance
  • Inspect the work of the construction contractor for progress, workmanship, quality and conformance with contract documents, applicable building codes and safety standards
  • Deliver reports, reviews, evaluations, design work, etc. to CO
  • Review and process Construction Contractor’s RFIs and assist in resolution, draft response, tracking, and follow up
  • Construction of permanent utility connections to potable water, sanitary sewer, and electrical services

Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Education and professional qualifications related to construction, architecture, and engineering preferred
  • 10+ years related Construction Management Experience or related field required
  • Experience in general construction, structural work, utilities, historic preservation, quality control, cost estimates, IGE development, RFP’s development, schedule, safety, project management software, record-keeping, computer literate and good communication skills
  • Minimum of OSHA 30-hour construction safety training required
  • Knowledge in construction practices including applicable building codes, applicable safety regulations, cost breakdown estimating and negotiating, and technical writing
  • Knowledge of cost estimating with breakdown of labor, materials and equipment costs for proposed construction contract modifications
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, schedules, and other specifications
  • The ability to understand and document negotiations between the Government and the Construction Contractor for the technical scope requirements, prime and subcontractor labor, equipment, material, overhead and profit
  • Written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of software including Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, and any other software for the project
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Qualified applicant must be able to pass a background check
  • Ability to walk or climb on a daily basis to observe contract performance. Due to remote location and terrain, will need the ability to walk long distances over tough terrain
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
