They are currently seeking a Senior Inverter Specialist, Battery Energy Storage Applications to join their team. This role involves developing innovative solutions for energy storage, with a focus on inverter and Power Conversion Systems (PCS) requirements for integration into grid-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and extensive experience with inverter technology for storage applications.
Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):
- Grow and manage inverter sub-component portfolio elements, acting as the internal expert on vendors, their products, and capabilities.
- Process extensive tenders focusing on inverter and Power Conversion Systems (PCS) requirements for grid-scale battery energy storage systems.
- Implement and guide basic and detailed engineering activities related to inverters and PCS.
- Develop inputs for layouts, designs, integration, and control & protection of inverters/PCS into battery storage systems, ensuring compatibility.
- Act as the customer-facing expert for inverters on behalf of the team.
Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, electrochemistry, mathematics, power electronics, automation, controls, or a similar field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Long-term working experience with inverter technology for storage applications, battery systems, subcomponents, and power conversion systems (PCS) and their controls (EMS, VPP, PCS-level).
- Good knowledge of US standards, regulations, grid codes, and market requirements.
- Knowledge of batteries and battery systems with a focus on Lithium technology.
- Understanding and experience with primary inverter players in the field of batteries is preferred.
- Firm grasp of inverter capabilities, applications, and impacts on BESS systems and grids, including in-depth knowledge of grid following vs. grid forming applications.
- Strong communication and presentation skills and a self-organized way of working in an intercultural environment.
- Proficiency in English; German skills are a plus.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
