Renewable Development Engineer (Electrical Focus)
About the Position
As a Renewable Development Engineer in the Renewable Development group, you will be the primary liaison for development, bid support, and/or preliminary (0%-10%) solar design work and feasibility studies between internal operations stakeholders, and external stakeholders (e.g., Clients). The Solar Proposal Engineer works collaboratively with these Stakeholders to perform preliminary PV electrical and PV civil design.
Salary Range: $75,000 – $110,000 / year
The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.
This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provides pre-sales technical support to customers and the NEI outside sales team
- Acts as a liaison between the solar design team and relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Delivers preliminary solar design(s) (0-10%) and solar feasibility studies involving:
- Meet the technical requirements outlined by the client
- Creation of constraint file to complete a solar layout
- Create solar layout
- Provide high-level Bill of Materials for civil infrastructure, electrical material, and foundation quantities
- Must be able to self-schedule preliminary design activities to meet deadlines set by external stakeholders
- Energy modeling (PVsyst)
- Works with Proposal team and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to establish proposal pricing
- Provides engineering & technical support to the other members of the Business Development & Project Services Team
- Develops and maintain outstanding company-client relationships
- Maintains high ethical and professional standards
- Develops equipment vendor relationships
- Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
- Attends safety training and adhere to all safety rules and guidelines
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Must Have
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
- Experience: 2 – 5 years of relevant engineering or field experience
- License: FE, PE is a plus, but not required
- Experience with energy modeling using PVsyst
- Experience with AutoCAD and PVCase
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Project
- Basic understanding electrical and civil engineering with specific emphasis on PV solar
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with customers and internal personnel; exercises strong intrapersonal skills.
- Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and a skilled decision maker that is comfortable in a fast-paced design environment
- Possesses excellent problem-solving skills
- Commerical understanding of the engineering or construction industries
- Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
- Good interpersonal and people skills
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
