Job Description: Design Engineer (Solar PV Systems) The Design Engineer transforms initial solar PV system concepts into comprehensive, construction-ready designs. Engaging across residential, commercial, and utility scale projects, the Design Engineer manages a diverse project portfolio. Collaboration with internal stakeholders such as Sales, regulatory bodies, and customers ensures solutions align with both client needs and industry standards. This role requires relocation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering efforts for residential, commercial, and utility scale solar projects.
  • Validate initial system layouts and equipment placements proposed by sales personnel.
  • Develop detailed PV system designs encompassing site plans, mechanical racking and attachment layouts, single-line electrical diagrams, balance of system (BOS) configurations, interconnection specifics, and labeling requirements.
  • Interface closely with procurement managers to deliver streamlined project data and comprehensive bill of materials.
  • Provide engineering support to operations, service, and sales departments as necessary.
  • Evaluate and recommend optimal design applications and assess alternative products.

Basic Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in design or engineering related to renewable energy (preferred).
  • Additional experience in estimating or designing electrical systems is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
  • Familiarity with PVSyst software is preferred.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, NEC requirements, and construction practices.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and perform under pressure.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and apply new technologies.
  • Valid driver’s license.
