Job Description

Foundation Windpower builds wind turbine generators on-site at businesses facing large energy demand and high energy costs. We finance, build, and maintain our turbines at no cost to our customers, and help our customers control costs by selling the electricity generated by the turbines directly to them at a price below utility rates. Our customers include mines, quarries, distribution centers, agricultural processing facilities, water treatment facilities, and other large energy users looking to save money through renewable generation.

Our company currently operates 28 utility-scale (1.0MW – 2.8MW each) wind turbines throughout the State of California. Our field operations are based out of two O&M shops, based near concentrations of our turbines across two servicing markets (NorCal/SoCal). This posting for the role of WIND TURBINE TECHNICIAN is based out of SALINAS, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Perform both annual and semi-annual (high wind/low wind) maintenances on our installed fleet of WTGs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair down/faulted WTGs.
  • Perform inspections, retrofits, preventative repairs.
  • Perform extensive cleaning in/on/around the WTG, both planned and unplanned.
  • Perform additional site responsibilities not specifically-related to the WTG, such as: BOP/switchgear operation and maintenance, weed abatement, SCADA network troubleshooting and repair.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with all fellow technicians and teammates, as well as our customers and vendors.
  • Maintain all aspects of an operations & maintenance facility, including tooling/inventory management, shipping/receiving, general organization and janitorial duties included.
  • Some limited/occasional overnight travel to sites not local to Salinas, CA is required and to be expected.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours or non-standard schedules as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to perform work with little supervision.
  • Good organization and time management skills.
  • Wind Technician/Safe Access and Rescue at Height program completion certificate and/or prior industry experience is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • GE 1.x or 2.x Wind turbine: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Wind Turbine: 1 year (Required)

Ability to Relocate:

  • Salinas, CA: Relocate before starting work (Required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 50% (Preferred)
