Your Mission as Vice President of Development:

  • Strategic Visionary: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for utility-scale solar project development, identifying high-potential markets, evaluating emerging technologies, and aligning the company’s portfolio with market trends and customer needs.
  • Master Negotiator: Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including landowners, utilities, government agencies, and financial partners. Negotiate favorable terms for land acquisition, power purchase agreements, and project financing.
  • Spearhead Revenue Growth: Drive business development by leading external sales efforts, forging strategic channel partnerships, and identifying lucrative market segments to expand the company’s reach and maximize revenue potential.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee all aspects of the development process, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Implement robust project management systems and processes to drive efficiency and mitigate risks.
  • Financial Acumen: Analyze project economics, create compelling proposals, and structure project financing to maximize profitability. Develop innovative financial models that optimize returns for investors and ensure long-term project sustainability.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven Experience: 10+ years in power generation project development, with at least 5 years specifically in utility-scale solar. Residential solar experience will not be considered. We are looking for a seasoned professional with a track record of success in the complex world of large-scale solar project development.
  • Business Acumen: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a deep understanding of project financial models and market regulations. You’ll need to be able to quickly assess project viability, identify potential risks and opportunities, and make data-driven decisions that drive positive outcomes.
  • Leadership Excellence: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate high-performing teams, driving results through effective communication and collaboration. You’ll be expected to inspire and empower your team, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of permitting, interconnection processes, power marketing strategies, and siting considerations. You’ll need to be well-versed in the technical aspects of solar project development, from site selection and environmental impact assessments to power purchase agreements and grid interconnection.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, engineering, or a related field. MBA preferred. A strong academic foundation is essential, but we also value practical experience and a demonstrated passion for renewable energy.
