Overview:
Soltage is a leader in the development, financing, and operation of distributed utility-scale solar, storage and solar + storage assets for commercial, industrial, municipal, and utility customers across the United States. Soltage has developed more than 125 solar energy projects, with more than 600 MW total distributed generating capacity in operation or under construction and invested over $1.5 Billion to date into the US clean energy sector.
Position Expectations:
Soltage is seeking an experienced candidate to lead our Asset Operations department. The Vice President, Asset Operations will be responsible for the management of operations and maintenance processes for C&I DER, small to medium size utility scale PV resources, energy storage systems (ESS) and photovoltaic plus energy storage systems (PV+BESS). The position will oversee Soltages Operations team and the Operations and Maintenance of Soltages portfolio of solar and energy storage assets.
Specific Job Functions:
- Monitor and manage operational performance and maintenance of a portfolio of over 100 solar projects across +15 states and stand-alone energy storage / solar + storage projects.
- Supervise Asset Operations personnel, in the performance of their duties and provide leadership, training, and coaching to a diverse team of individuals with varying skillsets.
- Supervise and Manage Soltages Network Operations Center (NOC)
- Supervise preparation of periodic asset operations management performance reports
- Manage and be accountable for the safe execution of all work performed on Soltages solar and storage assets
- Identify, justify, and implement approved solar fleet optimization projects to maximize project long-term value
- Manage and be accountable for development of annual operating plans and preparation of monthly and quarterly reports. Provide detailed variance explanations and corrective action plans.
- Monitor and manage the day-to-day management of outsourced O&M providers to optimize asset short- and long-term performance. Provide guidance and leadership to staff and stakeholders.
- Focus on NOC operational metrics and optimization tools necessary for Soltage and its stakeholders to evaluate real-time performance of operating assets.
- Monitor and manage asset generation data quality and responsible for correcting anomalies.
- Establish and manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs in coordination with Soltage Engineering and Asset Management teams and ensure all operating assets are NERC, ISO, and IA compliant
- Manage commercial relationship with key vendors and lead contract negotiations as needed
- Monitor, manage and maximize the production for each asset through the analysis of system efficiency and identifying opportunities for improved performance.
- Create detailed comprehensive reports on all projects / resources.
- Review performance reports and project specific performance data; Investigate issues and initiate actions to improve performance / focus on Asset Up-time and O&M strategies
- Facilitate the onboarding of additional portfolios of new projects. Manage O&M RFP processes and negotiate O&M agreements with potential vendors
- Work closely with numerous departments including Portfolio Management, Soltage Asset
- Management, Finance, Business Development, Engineering, Project Management, outside service providers, off takers and partners.
- Manage SCADA and DAS software platforms.
- Travel as required
Experience and Education Requirements:
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and hold a Bachelors degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Management, Mathematics or a related field.
The candidate must have:
- 7+ years of experience in Asset Operations management, operating and maintaining Photovoltaic, energy storage systems or related equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and be a team player with strong interpersonal skills. The candidate must be able to successfully interface with all employee levels including company executives and board members. Creative, proactive, problem-solving is a necessity. Must be self-motivated with an ability to balance multiple tasks under tight deadlines without supervision
- Exemplary organizational skills and process orientation skills be able to coordinate and prioritize numerous important tasks, as well as proactively identify and address potential issues in a fast-paced work environment
- Demonstrable leadership skills and proven ability to manage a team with multiple priorities and assess and adjust quickly to changing priorities
- Strong understanding of renewables, technologies, mathematical data analysis, and energy management principles.
- Familiarity with medium and low voltage electrical systems and components and a knowledge of SCADA systems and other monitoring tools
- Working knowledge and ability to read design, construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with writing proposals, reports and comfortable presenting to, and interacting with consultants, authorities with jurisdiction, and regulatory agencies
- A successful candidate will have a high level of proficiency in the use of computer applications including proficiency in the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook).
Location:
This is a full-time position with potential for on-call or shift work as required, staffed out of Soltages headquarters in Jersey City, NJ.
